Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my wonderful Mother Hazel Mary Lewis (nee Martin) on 27 March 2024 in Anerly KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, at the age of 90. Mom was born on 10 April 1933 in Doncaster United Kingdom. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-inlaw, great-grandmother, Sister and friend.
She was married to her devoted husband Edgar Lewis, and together they raised one child, Elwyn. Edgar and Hazel had 3 grand children, Justin, Elwyn junior and Kerry Anne, and 3 great-grandchildren namely: Jonathan, Amy and Rebel Rose, 2 step granchilderen Ryan and Craig .two step-grandchildern Ryan and Craig. My Mom had one brother Eric. Hazel was known for her loving and caring nature, always ready with a kind word or a listening ear for those in need. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh, bringing joy and light to those around her. She enjoyed making knitted dolls, which she would sell at the market in Anerley Kwazul Natal South Africa. Mom was extremely Intelligent, creative and enjoyed crosswords and other puzzles.
As a family we would enjoy holidays in Beira with family friends. My Mom will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Rest in peace Mom. You will be forever loved and remembered.

My wife Lynette and I took my mother to the Opticians in Port Shepstone, while waiting to be served my mother said there’s Isaiah and said ”one eye’s higher than the other and we had a good laugh at the very unexpected comment.

I was very sad to hear of Aunt Hazels passing. We only met a couple of times but she was a lovely lady & very kind to me.
