There is so much to say... I cannot find the words. Except for these: 'I love you.' - Elise, Somewhere in Time
Obituary
Hans Huo passed away peacefully on the morning of May 21, 2026 at 85 years old with his beloved ex-wife, Pamela, at his bedside holding his hand, after a 4-year struggle with cancer. Hans had a long and adventurous life, and leaves behind a large family and group of friends who love him. For that reason, he is owed an incredible and exciting obituary. So please return here soon for more on our favorite Chinese cowboy.
Final Wishes
Hans's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread at "a place with beach and trees". For that reason, there will be no service. However, his family hopes that you celebrate his life the way he would have wanted: with joy and partying. Hans wished to smoke a cigar, drink whiskey and eat a steak just before his death. Feel free to celebrate him by doing the same and do post your celebratory pictures below to share with him and those who loved him!
We'd also love to see your favorite photos of Hans and hear your favorite stories - please share those below as well!

More recently he would message me on Facebook once in a while. He shared photos of his new dog and asked all about my son.
Hans was a wonderful man and will be missed everyday.
Hans loved to be active. He loved to be on a bicycle or tell us about his daily workout routine. He was constantly challenging Tasha to plank competitions, which he would always kick her butt because he could usually hold a plank for 5 minutes! Whenever he would stay with Tasha and I at our home, if I was outside in the gym working out, he would come out and always try and lift the weights I would using and it would usually result in him saying "God damn! Too heavy!"
His relationship with his family was complicated, but you could see that he cared about the ones closest to him. I really saw that caring side of him when I travelled with him and Tasha to Hong Kong to visit his family. They all were so excited to see him and he was excited to see them. Whenever he'd visit California, he always wanted to have dim sum with Tasha and I and his son JR and daughter in law Michelle. Naturally, we would order too much and over eat, but someone how Hans had an endless stomach and could eat us all under the table.
I have very fond memories of Hans that I will cherish forever. I feel incredibly lucky to have known him and to have been a part of his family.
Rest in peace Papa San.

He was the kind of guy who always looked on the bright side and brought so much humor into our lives. We all the family members in Hong Kong are going to miss him and grateful for all the laughs and great memories we shared. Rest easy, my big bro.

Service
The family encourages those who loved Hans to celebrate him in their own ways. He would have wanted you to remember him with joy and partying (and with cigars, whiskey & steak)!
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family has asked friends and loved ones to donate to the Hanaelah Horse Rescue, if you are able. As everyone knows, Hans passionately loved horses and viewed his cowboy years as the best time of his life.
