Beloved husband, father, and friend. He had great taste in music, a pretty good golf game, a lot of curiosity, and an intellect matched only by his heart. We shall not look upon his like again.

June 12, 1945 to November 2, 2024.
Greg Humphrey, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully the afternoon of Saturday, November 2nd 2024 in Titusville, FL. He leaves behind Eddie, his wife of 55 years as well as his children Jessica, Matthew, Anthony, and Catherine and his grandchildren Danielle, Emily, and Joseph.
Born in Providence, RI, Greg grew up there as well as in Buffalo, NY. He met Eddie in in 1967 when they were both stationed in Turkey and serving together in the U.S. Air Force. Greg and Eddie married two years later in 1969. Greg served over 40 years for the American Federation of Teachers in Washington, D.C., in multiple roles including as the head of legislative affairs, the Secretary – Treasurer, finishing his time as executive assistant to the Secretary – Treasurer and President as well as being a consultant on many leadership and negotiation matters. Greg was an achieved golfer, political analyst and negotiator, wine connoisseur, cigar aficionado, motorcycle rider, and a voracious reader. He was a lifelong football fan, music lover, and above all, student.
Greg graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University with a BA in History in 1987 – several decades after his first foray into higher education. He never stopped learning and could learn from any person or circumstance he encountered. He is remembered by those that knew him as one of the most kind, generous, and intelligent people in their lives; he is remembered by his children as the coolest and most loving father they could have asked for, and by his wife as her soulmate and the love of her life. Greg’s departure is a loss for all who knew him; those are the same that loved him. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at Louisquisset Golf Club in North Providence, RI on Sunday, December 15th 2024. All are invited, as well as to a memorial Mass held that morning at 10 AM at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, RI 02904.
