“Forever on the tide, forever in our hearts.”
Obituary
Gregory “Greg” Wargin, born in New York and a longtime resident of Cape Cod, passed away on July 11, 2026 and will be remembered for his outgoing spirit, his athleticism, his extraordinary craftsmanship, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life.
Greg was an extrovert by nature. He genuinely enjoyed being around people and had a remarkable ability to make and maintain friendships. During the holidays, he was often the first to reach out with a phone call, a message, or warm wishes, making sure those he cared about knew they were in his thoughts.
Those simple gestures reflected his generous heart and his desire to stay connected with the people he loved.
A gifted master carpenter, Greg had an incredible talent for building and creating. He could build just about anything and truly loved the work. His craftsmanship reflected his patience, skill, and pride in doing things well, leaving behind lasting reminders of his talent.
In addition to his work as a master carpenter, Greg enjoyed working at Lambert’s Market, where he was treated like family and was able to put his carpentry skills to good use.
Greg loved his two children, Sydnie and Seth, deeply and always carried them in his heart. He was proud of the adults they became and the families they built. Becoming a grandfather to Emery was one of the greatest blessings of his life, and he treasured every moment with his grandchild.
An accomplished athlete, Greg had a lifelong passion for sports. He especially enjoyed playing pickup hockey with friends, where his competitive spirit and love of the game were always on display. On the golf course, he was equally accomplished, earning the distinction of being a scratch golfer. Whether on the ice or the fairway, Greg found joy in competition, camaraderie, and time spent with friends.
Earlier in life, Greg served in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life he rarely mentioned and never sought recognition for.
Like many lives, Greg’s journey included difficult seasons, particularly in his later years. Those challenges, however, do not define his legacy. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a loyal brother and friend, a gifted athlete, an exceptional master carpenter, and a man whose warmth and generosity touched many lives.
Greg is survived by his children, Sydnie and Seth, and their spouses, Michael and Kamden; his cherished granddaughter, Emery; his former wife, Melissa, who remained an important part of his extended family; his siblings, Michael, David, Kathy “Kate,” and Dennis; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering willingness to connect.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
May his memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who knew and loved him.
