Dad ❤️
In Loving Memory of Greg Macfarlane
Greg Macfarlane, dad to Ashleigh and Alexander, passed away on 30th October 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and unforgettable moments. His children were his greatest pride, and there was nothing he loved more than telling people about them.
Greg was born in Middlesex and later raised in East Kilbride, where he became known for his humour, cheek, and ability to make friends everywhere he went. He worked for many years in a printers, where he made sure every kid in Westwood mysteriously received Celtic or Rangers magazines straight through the letterbox. After that, he became a taxi driver in Glasgow city centre, a job made for someone with his personality. Every shift gave him a new story, and every passenger left with a laugh.
Greg always seemed to find his way into the middle of things. He made it into the media more than once from helping celebrities recover a missing phone to appearing in a football interview. If there was something going on, Greg was never far from it.
His other great love was Clyde. When Clyde were playing, the world stopped apart from Greg shouting at the referee, even though they definitely couldn’t hear him.
He had his regular haunts: The Monty, The Village Inn, and East Kilbride town centre. You couldn’t walk anywhere with him without stopping for a chat, a joke, or a story. He collected people wherever he went - friends, strangers, bar staff, taxi customers - and everyone had a story about Greg.
Since his passing, we’ve come to realise just how much he quietly did for others. Friends, neighbours, and even people we had never heard of have shared how he helped them during hard times: offering lifts, meals, advice, or a few pounds when it mattered. He never bragged or expected anything back, that was simply who he was.
Greg will be remembered for his humour, his loyalty, his mischief, and his massive heart. And, true to form, we all know he would absolutely love a fuss being made about him. The family would take great comfort in seeing old photos, hearing stories, and reading messages from people who knew him through the years.
Forever loved, forever missed

Greg was a wonderful human being and a fabulous person. I’m sorry I couldn’t make the funeral today but had just got out of hospital.
I’ll miss that big smiling face.
Losing too many wonderful fans recently and the soul of the Clyde.
Love to all his family.
Tom
Not seen Cathy since she retired but would be great to catch up.
What a lovely service, it would be just what he wanted, thinking of you all.xx
You got a bit of mileage out of that Sea Story buddy.
RIP, & thanks for the memories. x

I remember when my niece was born, John mentioned to Greg that he had become a dad to a baby girl, Greg says congratulations - what did you call her? Same as your's John replied. What Greg? was his answer - he did of course mean Ashley.
Oh the champions play at Shawfield,
All the stars they play for Clyde,
For there's something about the football,
Makes it famous far and wide....Greg you know the rest!
Rest in Peace
I remember when I was a 15 year old (in 1977) being on the EK Clyde supporters bus., when Greg and his great mucker, Alec Slowey, delivered a rousing and hilarious version of Chanson D'Amour by Manhattan Transfer .
RIP
