Not for ourselves, but for others...
What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.
In Memory of Lt. Col (Ret) Godfrey John Giles
Our family invites you to join us in remembering and celebrating the remarkable life of Godfrey John Giles — a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, comrade, mentor, and friend. Godfrey’s life was defined by service, integrity, and love — for his country, his community, and most of all, his family. As we continue to honour his legacy, this Remembrance Wall has been created as a shared space where those whose lives he touched can contribute their stories, photographs, messages, and videos in his memory.
We are in the process of gathering our own gallery of images and an official obituary, which will be shared here soon. In the meantime, we warmly welcome your reflections, memories, and tributes — moments that capture his spirit, humour, and the impact he had on your life. Together, these memories will form a living tapestry of the man we were so blessed to call our dad.
Should you have videos or other documents you want to share - please send an email through to lategjgiles@wvvoice.org so we can assist with collecting them.
We also invite you to RSVP for the public Celebration of Life planned for Early 2026 in Johannesburg, where family, friends, comrades, and colleagues from near and far will gather to honour Godfrey with the dignity, gratitude, and unity he inspired in us all.
Thank you for being part of this remembrance — for helping us celebrate a life of service, courage, and compassion that will never be forgotten.
With love and appreciation,
The Giles Family
