Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever.
Obituary
Mary Virginia “Ginny” Kelly Severino was deeply loved by her family and friends for her warmth, grace, empathy, and gentle sense of humor.
Ginny dedicated 25 years to teaching with the New York City Board of Education before retiring. She brought patience, compassion, and genuine care to her work and to the many students whose lives she influenced.
For more than 45 years, Ginny maintained lifelong friendships that began during her years at Harbor House in New Rochelle, NY. She and her friends shared walks, conversations, family milestones, and the everyday experiences of raising their children. Their enduring bonds were built on laughter, support, and a deep appreciation for one another.
Ginny was especially grateful for the love she shared with her husband, Michael Severino. Together, they built a life filled with companionship and shared happiness over 20 years of marriage.
Above all, Ginny was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to Thomas Eric Martinetti and his wife, Megan, and Kelly Martinetti and her partner, Sergio. She was also a beloved stepmother to Kristina, Joseph, and Alexandria Severino. She was preceded in death by her stepson, Michael Severino, and her parents, Mary Elizabeth Kelly and Norman Kelly.
Ginny is survived by her brothers, Henry Kelly and Kevin Kelly, as well as her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren—Ryan Vedovato, Nora Martinetti, James Martinetti, and Michael Severino—knew her lovingly as GiGi. She treasured watching them grow and celebrating their happiness.
Ginny’s life was defined by the relationships she nurtured—as a teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her compassion, humor, devotion to her family, and the lasting friendships she formed throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
