George R Gallagher, 86, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026. Born on July 1, 1939, George was a devoted husband to Susan Gallagher (deceased), a loving father to his three children, Karen Owens, Laurie Gallagher, George Gallagher (deceased) and a cherished grandfather to Casey Owens, Jack Owens, Peter Owens and Zachary Owens, brother to Paul Gallagher (deceased) Janis Scott, and Gail Brownstein (deceased), uncle and friend to many.
George served United States Marine Corp in his late teens and early twenties. He was a successful advertising sales professional and avid golfer.
Throughout his life, George was known for his unwavering courage and resilience. He faced life's challenges with a steadfast spirit and an infectious sense of humor and sarcasm. George's laughter and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
A true admirer of Philadelphia, George was a passionate fan of the city’s sports teams. He celebrated their victories, commiserated in their defeats, and found community in the shared spirit of Philadelphia pride.
George's absence will be deeply felt, but the love and warmth he shared will always be remembered by his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on June 11, 2026, St Anastasia Catholic Church located at 331 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Visitation begins at 9:00 am and mass to follow at 10:30. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring George's memory and celebrating a life well lived.
