We do not have to rely on memories to recapture the spirit of those we have loved and lost - they live within our souls in some perfect sanctuary which even death cannot destroy."

Obituary
Genevieve, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024 at the age of 82. A woman of remarkable strength and a wicked sense of humor, she lived her life with a spirit that was nothing short of extraordinary.
She was a true outdoorswoman, finding joy in the simple pleasures of hunting, fishing, gardening, and canning. Her garden was always bountiful, and her kitchen was a place where love was served daily. An excellent cook, she shared her culinary talents with many, from restaurants to a convent full of nuns, where she spent years preparing meals with care and dedication.
Genevieve spent her life caring for others, whether it was her own family or strangers in need. She was a skilled seamstress, lovingly creating garments for her family and never hesitating to mend or alter something for those she cared about. She had a special place in her heart for everything handmade or gifted to her, treasuring these items as precious memories.
Her stories of how much her mother loved Christmas were always told with a twinkle in her eye, a reflection of the joy she found in the holiday season. She also had a passion for driving, enjoying the freedom and adventure it brought. A true survivor at heart, she kept a large supply of survival gear, always prepared for anything life might throw her way.
Genevieve was a badass in every sense of the word, living life on her own terms and leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her sisters Geraldine Tripp (Medeiros), Anita Purcel (Pires), Amelia Pires, brother Ronald Medeiros, daughter Liza Reiter (Fournier), son-in-law Marc Reiter, granddaughter Penelope Reiter, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in passing by her late husband Arthur Fournier, mother Isabel Medeiros (Lewis/Luiz), father Joseph Medeiros, stepfather Joaquim Pires, sisters Irene McClellan (Medeiros), Lola Viveiros (Pires), and brothers Harold Medeiros, William Pires, Gary Pires, John Pires, Richard Pires, and David Pires.
A celebration of her life will be held in Massachusetts on a date still to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by spending time outdoors, enjoying a good meal, or sharing a laugh with those you love.
Rest in peace, Genevieve. Your love, strength, and spirit will forever be in our hearts.
