I came to know Late Mr. Efe Gabriel Iwhiwhu when he was transferred to Umiaghwa Secondary School, Oria-Abraka, as Principal in the year 2008. He was a strong Christian who always came to the assembly ground to preach the word of God to the students. In all my years of teaching, I had never seen a principal so committed to spiritual guidance.
Despite the lowly school environment, he lived within the school compound with two of his children, Aghogho and Ovo, showing dedication and sacrifice. He loved hardworking teachers and encouraged excellence. As the Chemistry teacher under him, I can testify that he ensured chemistry equipment and materials were always available for effective teaching and learning. He also moved from class to class to ensure lessons were going on.
Late Mr. Iwhiwhu was a good man, a philanthropist, and a father figure to me, especially during the burial of my wife’s father. His kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.
Though he passed on the 7th in September 2025 and will be buried on Saturday, 7th February 2026, his legacy of faith, dedication, and service lives on.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
From Eghwrudje Moses Odafe.
Our dear principal was a loving, caring, and kind-hearted man who put his subordinates (teachers) first before himself in all he did.
The late Mr. Gabriel was not just a principal but a father to us all. “Ose,” like we fondly called him while we worked together, never wanted to see his staff frown. He made sure he saw to all our needs. “Ose” ensured there was no disagreement amongst his teachers.
Principal Iwhubu was one principal I knew who gave money to his staff at the end of the term to ensure they were motivated to do their work. He even gave more money to the “then form teachers” and treated them specially.
He was always prayerful and taught the staff and students to hold on to our Creator and no one else. He was always talking about several deliverances God gave him and always enjoined us to worship God.
What else can we say? If we think of the nice time we spent with this great man of integrity and a hero, time and space will not allow us to share it all.
Our consolation is that Mr. Gabriel Iwhubu died serving God, and we hope to see him again on the day of resurrection by God’s grace.
This is signed by the present Principal of Ojeta Secondary School, Abraka,
Chief Mrs. Flora Doro Onoriose.
"I couldn't have asked for a better father-in-law. From the moment I joined this family, you welcomed me . May your gentle soul rest in the blossom 🌸 of thy LORD, till we meet again on the ressuration morning 🙏🏼
from son in-law Mr Olu Jimoh

Later in life, his strong dedication to his Christian faith became another powerful source of inspiration. It reflected commitment, humility, and the courage to grow and change. I honor his journey and the lasting influence it has had on my life.
Life is measured not by its length but by moments of significance such as the impact on others. Mr Gabriel Iwhiwhu impacted so many lives positively,he lived such an exemplary life filled with generosity kindness and love.
While his physical presence is gone, his influence remains in the lessons and values he imparted shaping those he left behind, we are fortunate to have known him.
Keep resting in Christ our hope of glory.

A Man of Integrity. My father was a man of unparalleled integrity. He believed in doing the right thing, even when it was hard or unpopular. His honesty and strong moral compass were clear in everything he did, from his career to his relationships with family and friends. He taught me that integrity isn’t just about honesty, it’s about being true to yourself and your beliefs.
A Loving Husband and Father. At his core, Dad was a family man. His love for Mom was a beautiful example of partnership and commitment. My father was tough when it comes to discipline but as soft as cotton when it comes to my mother. They had a bond built on respect, understanding, and unwavering support. As a father, he was patient, kind, and always there for me when I needed him. He never missed a milestone and was always so proud of everything I accomplished.
A Source of Wisdom. Dad had a way of giving advice without making it sound like a lecture. His words were thoughtful and rooted in experience. Whether it was about dealing with life’s ups and downs or making important decisions, his advice was always spot on. He taught me to approach life with curiosity and an open mind, always ready to learn something new. I miss you Iwhiwhu Gabriel Efe

My grandfather, Gabriel, was a man of great integrity and kindness. He taught me the value of perseverance, humility, and compassion. His stories told around the fire, his gentle laughter, and his wise counsel continue to inspire me. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the values he instilled in our family.
May his soul rest in peace.

It still feels like a dream to accept that you are no longer with us, Daddy. Your passing has left a deep void in our hearts, one that words can hardly describe. You were more than a father — you were a mentor, a teacher, a disciplinarian, and a source of endless love and inspiration.
You lived a life marked by gentleness, discipline, loyalty, and deep faith in God. As the Principal of Umiagwha Senior Secondary School, you led with wisdom, humility, and integrity. You were deeply respected by your colleagues and students alike for your strength of character and commitment to excellence.
At home, you were a loving husband and a devoted father who always ensured that we stayed focused, studied hard, and never missed church. You instilled in us the values of prayer, giving, and hard work — lessons that will forever guide our paths.
I will never forget the many moments we shared — taking you to church and the hospital, preparing your meals, and caring for you with all my heart. I still remember you gently asking me to eat, promising to give me money, and I would smile and refuse, because all I wanted was to see you eat and recover. Those memories remain precious to me.
You were strong even in your weakness, calm even in your pain, and faithful even till your last breath. Daddy, you lived a fulfilled life — a life that touched many and left lasting footprints of kindness and goodness.
Though it still feels unreal that you are gone, I take comfort in knowing that you are resting peacefully in the bosom of the Lord. Your legacy of love, discipline, and godliness will continue to live in us.
Sleep on, Daddy, till we meet again. You will forever remain in our hearts.
— Aghogho Iwhiwhu Efe

To my ever-great and loving father, whom I fondly call “Daddy Daddy.” You raised us with so much love, discipline, and care. Your affection brought peace and happiness into our lives, and your presence made our home complete. You advised me to read the environmental health science course of which I am enjoying it as an Environmental health officer today.
I always prayed to marry a kind and gentle man like you, and truly, God answered that prayer. Losing you remains one of the greatest shocks of my life, but I cannot question God Almighty.
I will forever miss your love, your warmth, and your kind words — especially when you would say, “Eguono, you are a good daughter.” Those words still echo in my heart and bring tears to my eyes.
Daddy, you lived a life full of love, purpose, and kindness. Though you are no longer here with us, I find comfort knowing you are resting peacefully in a better place.
Rest in perfect peace, Daddy.
— Mrs. Eguono Vivian Olu Jimoh

Beyond his generosity, he carries a peaceful spirit, calm, gentle and steady, never causing trouble, always finding a way to bring harmony. His examples teaches me the true meaning of patience, kindness and resilience.
I am truly grateful for a father who not only supports dreams but does so with a heart full of love and a spirit that inspire those around him
You will forever be in my heart Dad

Once, in a roostery
there lived a speckled hen, and when
ever she laid an egg this hen
ecstatically cried:
‘O progeny miraculous, particular spectaculous,
what a wonderful hen am I!’
Down in a pond nearby
perchance a fat and broody carp
was basking, but her ears were sharp
she heard Dame Cackle cry:
‘O progeny miraculous, particular spectaculous,
what a wonderful hen am I!’
‘Ah, Cackle,’ bubbled she,
‘for your single egg, O silly one,
I lay at least a million;
suppose for each I cried:
“O progeny miraculous, particular spectaculous!”
what a hullaballoo there'd be!’
“Grandpa’s Favourite Poem”💞
“I laughed every time he recited it because he usually had this wonderful expression while doing it😂🌺”
Though I only met him a few times, his warmth was immediate. He welcomed me into the family with open arms and heartfelt prayers. I will always remember his infectious smile, quick wit, and incredible strength especially his determination to celebrate with us at our wedding reception in July 2025, despite his ill health. He was a force to be reckoned with, and his resilience was inspiring. He will be deeply missed, and his spirit will live on in our hearts💐

Onome: Granddaughter💞

My dear uncle was more than family-He was a father in every sense. A guiding light, whose wisdom shaped my path; a source of strength, whose kindness knew no bounds. As a principal, he nurtured generations with patience and grace, planting seeds of knowledge that will bloom for years to come. Rest peacefully, dear uncle. Your legacy lives not in the years you spent, But in the hearts 💕 you’ve forever touched. “Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord.”
-MATTHEW 25:23
He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire everyone who knew him. We will miss his warmth, his wisdom and his gentle spirit . Daddy continue to rest in the bosom of the Almighty God.
(Maro: in-law)
I often reflect on his youth service days in the North, where his infectious enthusiasm for teaching was evident. Uncle had a unique ability to make learning not just informative but enjoyable. I can still recall the countless family gatherings filled with laughter and learning, where he would engage us in fun activities like teaching us how to recite numbers in Hausa. Because of him, I carry with me a basic understanding of the language, a small yet significant testament to his commitment to education and cultural exchange.
His passion for academics was not limited to his own achievements; it extended to each of us, inspiring us to aim higher, seek knowledge, and embrace lifelong learning. He firmly believed that education was the key to breaking barriers and transforming lives, and he embodied this belief in everything he did. With unwavering support, he encouraged us to pursue our studies, nurturing our curiosity and ambition.
Though he may no longer be with us, the impact he made in various lives will resonate forever. As we remember him today, let us carry forward his legacy by fostering a love for learning and by uplifting one another.
Rest in peace, dear uncle. Your difference in lives is profound, and your memory will never be forgotten.
They say the firstborn is a parent’s experiment, the one you practice on. If that’s true, then you, Dad, were a master craftsman from the very start. You didn’t just practice; you built a foundation for our entire family with unwavering love and sacrifice, and I was honored to witness it all from my place as your eldest son.
My earliest memories are filled with the quiet, selfless acts that defined your love. I remember so clearly, on the mornings of my exams, you would wake up even earlier than I did. The sound of you in the kitchen, preparing my food, and the sight of you boiling water for my bath to ensure I had everything I needed to succeed and would never be late—these were not just routines; they were your silent prayers for my future. You were investing in my success before I even opened a book.
Your belief in me has been the bedrock of my life. You have always believed, with unshakable certainty, that I could not fail. That faith was a light in my moments of doubt, and it is one of my greatest joys to have been able to make you proud. Your words have been the soundtrack to my life. There is no time I have spoken with you that you haven't ended our conversation with the affirming words, "You are a good boy." That simple, powerful phrase shaped my identity and constantly reminded me of the man you believed me to be.
And when financial obligations came calling, you never wavered in your confidence. You always held the belief that "your son will take care of it." You saw in me a capability and a responsibility that pushed me to become the reliable person I am today. You didn't just raise a son; you built a partner, a confidant, and a pillar for the family.
Now, as I navigate my own life, I see you in everything I do. In my work ethic, in my sense of responsibility, and in the quiet hope that I can provide for others even a fraction of the unwavering security you have always provided for us. The blueprint of my character has your signature on every page.
So, thank you, Dad. Thank you for the pre-dawn sacrifices and the boiling water. Thank you for your profound belief that lifted me up and for the words "good boy" that I will carry in my heart forever. Thank you for trusting me to share your burdens and for showing me the true meaning of strength and family.
The greatest honor of my life is to be your son. My greatest hope is to continue being the "good boy" you have always seen.
With all my love and respect,
Your Eldest Son
