Fleetwood Mars Mozee

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.

Fleetwood Mars Mozee passed away suddenly in a tragic car collision on December 30, 2023, south of Portland Oregon. He was 37. Fleetwood was born in Calgary Alberta, Canada. He attended the university of Victoria with a focus on women’s studies and Queer theory. He returned to Alberta and played a pivotal role working for Calgary Outlink, a support group for the LGBTQIA+ community. Fleetwood immigrated to Portland Oregon in 2015. He and Galadriel were married in April of 2016. Fleetwood began working for Multnomah County in 2017. He worked as a veterans services officer for several years assisting military veterans in accessing benefits. He was particularly impactful in assisting LGBTQIA+ veterans and survivors of military sexual assault and trauma in receiving needed support.

Fleetwood was a community builder and was active in portland LGBTQIA+, mutual aide and AA/Recovery communities to name just a few. His warm and welcoming presence will be deeply missed.

Fleetwood is survived by his wife Galadriel Mozee Legare, his mother Connie Posey Legare, his father Yves Charles Legare, stepmother, Elizabeth Noriko Nishimura, sisters Eva Marcy Legare, Kimiko Willgress, and Marie Ida Guay, his brother Adam Zakreski meets him at the doorway of what's next. He is survived by his maternal grandfather Larry Posey, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Fleetwood is also survived by his and Galadriel's godson August Joseph (Auggie) Wolfe and Auggie’s parents Maz and Aster Wolfe, all of whom he cherished.

Fleetwood is survived by countless chosen family members, friends and loves. His best friends Adrienne, Bess and Hank and his boyfriend Sage, deeply mourn his passing. Fleetwood was a dynamic and bold person. His community reflects the boundless love he shared.
