Obituary
Fikerte Assefa Ezezew, born on 12 November 1961, graced the world with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit. Her journey was a symphony of love, leaving an everlasting impression on the hearts of those fortunate to know her.
Shortly after the new year, Fikerte was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. She faced her illness with courage, faith, and grace. On June 15, 2024, she gained peace and ultimately passed away surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Adet, her mother Yigardu, and her nine siblings.

Fikerte's passing left a big wound in our hearts.Fikerte wad always willing to go the extra mile, she embraced our family with much love, always opening her home to us in Kenya and in NewYork. We will miss her dearly.

Nous ne regrettons rien, Fikerte, de la vie. Repose-toi en paix, Soeur. Nous nous rencontrerons dans un autre monde. Ta presence ici nous manque enormement. Mes condoleances a toute ta famille et a ta fille Adet qui est ton testament.

She was always partial to a cup of Earl Grey, preferably prepared with water infused with cinnamon, cardamom, and clove.

If it wasn't for returning home to Ethiopia, she particularly enjoyed her trips to Istanbul and France.
