Be Happy and Drink Water

Tribute

Dad, wherever you are, I hope you are having a good time.
I can see you smiling now with your hands out then rubbing your belly saying
"You know, I feel so relaxed"
I wonder where you are all the time and what you're doing.
I imagine you being in Dila Dila walking around under the sun, eating all of your favourite foods, laughing and joking with your friends. Your life has been a journey that only you can speak of. Looking at all of the photos, I see there is love.
Family and love was the most that mattered to you.
Thank you for everything you did for me, Janelle and Mum.
Thank you for the lessons you taught me - I won't give up, I will persevere until the end.
You are the first man I saw, the first man I loved and the first man to make me happy.
Watch over Mum, Janelle and me. Guide us and keep us safe.
I loved you then, I love you still and I will always love you.
- Selle

There are no words to describe how broken my heart is to not have you here with us.
It was always going to be me and you forever.
Thank you for being the best dad, giving me everything I wanted even when you didn’t know how, it was always enough dad.
I miss you everyday but most of all I’ll miss your smile and affection.
You always used to say “you’ll be alright”
I’m not sure if I will be now.
I hold on to the thought of you being happy in heaven with Lolo, Lola and Bobo.
It’s been awhile since you were all together.
Rest peacefully Dad.
You’re free now. I love you x
Still is, Me and you forever.
- Neng

Dearest Uncle,
I will always remember you with that greeny gold mercedes picking all us kids up from Primary School. Thank you for looking after us all when we were younger and we pray that you are at peace now. I know that you will be watching over Auntie, Neng and Selle who by the way still wants to know where you are and what you're eating so give that sign when you can 😉 Rest now Uncle and enjoy that crispy pata!

Dear Uncle,

I’m sad I didn’t get to see you in more recent times, but know that you leave us all with wonderful family memories that will last our lifetimes.

You have left behind three beautiful and incredibly strong women who I know you are proud of and will watch over every day 🤍

I will always remember how kind you were and the cheeky and knowing smile you often wore despite not being the loudest in the room. Thank you for all the good times.

Rest in Peace and watch over us all.

Dear Pareng Felix,

We will miss you. You are one of the first people we met here in London when we arrived all those years ago. We have so many happy memories that we shared with you during lots of occasions with the Pinedas. We had plenty of fun, food and jokes during all our picnics in the park.

Thank you for all these happy memories you shared with us. And thank you for being a great, kind friend and such a gentle person.

Rest in Peace now with the Lord.

My heartfelt sympathy to you Dear Sister Elvie, nieces Jisselle and Janelle. The world has taken one of the most precious love in your lives. May the love and support of those around you provide strength in the days ahead as you mourn the loss of Felix.
Felix....may your soul be in peace and find an eternal rest in the hands of our Lord. Thank you for being a joyful brother in law. Thank you for welcoming me in your home when I got the chance to visit London in the years 1989, 1990 and 2000. We get along well because of our love for food. To us, Food Is Life. On the other hand, it always gladdens me when I see you enjoying the food I serve you in our home here in the Philippines. If we can only turn back the hands of time.... we will, so we can cherish those memories. Please pray for us in heaven especially your bereaved family.
Love,

Uncle Felix is one of the few great person I know. He was a loving, caring, supportive and funny uncle. Whenever Uncle Felix and Auntie Elvie visits the Philippines, they meet us (me, my late nanay and my brother) and we have the whole day to eat and chit chat. Uncle had a lot of stories to tell - his rich experiences, personal views in the current happenings and jokes. His thoughts thought me how to improve my social skills by being kind and fair at the same time. The last time we met, he invited me to go to London and find better opportunities (he likes to see people growing in their own career or craft, by the way) I guess when that day comes, he’ll just watching over from heaven.

Uncle, rest easy. You will be missed by many. I believe you are in the best place right now, with our Lord. Bernard and I maybe far from Auntie, Ate Jisselle and Janelle but we are always here for them when they need us.

To my dear Sister Elvie, my nieces Jiselle and Janelle, on behalf of my family, we are extending our deepest condolences and sympathy for your loss. I shall forever remember Kong Felix as a man full of sense of humour, a man who makes things lighter when the situation calls for it. His appreciation to the food we serve him whenever he gets to visit us is overwhelming. I remember seeing him last was sometime in October 2023. He lost weight but still the same funny Kong Felix. I shall always remember those days of you staying in your tiny house built adjacent to ours, those times we used to have bonding with our neighbors, having coffee and other food to share, sharing laughters with the little Duday then ( whom you enjoy teasing her with, mind you she's now a full grown woman, now a married one and you were surprised how physically she improved herself when I show you her recent pictures) and Ma Ross (who's also in heaven now) among others. To you Kong Felix I pray for your eternal peace in heaven. Keep on guiding your family, serve as an angel, for them to endure the pain. To my Sister Elvie, stay strong and take care of yourself. I know you are not that well physically, but our Lord Almighty is always with us. He knows what's best for all of us. To my beautiful nieces Jiselle and Janelle, who I haven't seen for the longest time, keep the faith in your heart and take care of your Mom. Wishing you all peace and comfort.

With sincere love,
-Laling

Hello Uncle Felix,

My fondest memory is all our family get-togethers especially Christmas when there is always raucous laughter.
Seeing the gallery of photos reminds me of a gentle heart and the sound of your laugher .
You’re not the most talkative amongst the family but you laughed a lot and so today, Christmas Day, I think of you and hear the sound of your laughter echoing..

I’m sure it’s just as contagious wherever you are .

“Grief I’ve learned is really just Love”.

So Bottoms Up,
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy journey to the next life .

We will miss you !

Love,

What can I say, on behalf of my family …condolences!
We didn’t speak often and maybe we weren’t especially close, but your presence still mattered. You had a gentle, consistent, steady and didn’t need to be loud to be noticed. I remember way back when….the little things , the quiet nod, the unexpected kindness you gave to people a sense of comfort just by being there. We don’t always say it , but we noticed.
Grief doesn’t only belong to those who shared every detail. It finds its way into spaces someone leaves behind , even if the connection is simple.
Thank you for your steadiness and the gentle impact on our lives, on others especially to your family.
Felix, you mattered. You always did!

Uncle, I loved your sense of humour and fun. You had a special ability to turn any moment into and good one and I know life was so much brighter for Aunty, Ate and Neng for it.

What a gift it is to have so many laughs and giggles together!

This isn’t a goodbye, but more a thank you and good luck. Thank you for the warmth and the women you so clearly loved dearly. Wishing you good luck and fun times in the next part of your journey, wherever it may take you.

Drink lots of water! Xxx
