Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Farhad Fiouzi, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, in the early hours of November 16th, 2024.
Farhad was born and raised in Iran and trained as a civil engineer at the University of Tehran. After completing his Masters degree at the University of Surrey, he devoted his career to building Iran’s infrastructure, including airports in Shiraz, Ahvaz, and Tehran (Mehrabad), and housing projects in economically deprived areas in the south of Iran.
Farhad was a remarkably kind, bright, and humble man, and a mathematics prodigy who took pleasure in helping his two daughters with their geometry homework. He was a voracious reader and will be remembered for his love of classical music and cooking healthy recipes. He loved staying active and took long and contemplative walks every day, regardless of the weather. Although he gave up playing the violin in his youth, his musical talent lives through his two grandsons and he was immensely proud of their accomplishments in vocal and instrumental music.
Farhad passed away peacefully after a short illness. He is profoundly missed by his wife Fatima (Garzan) and his loving daughters Jenus (Gwyn Jones) and Leila (Martin Hill). Farhad was an adored grandfather ‘Bayi’ to Simon and Oliver (Hill) and found much pleasure in their company and banter.
Farhad is survived by his loving brother (Jubin Motamed), sisters (Azita Motamed, Farifteh Fiouzi), aunt (Parvaneh Fiouzi) and cousins in Iran and the United States.
Farhad’s family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care he received from the staff at the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation: https://grhf.ca/products/donate-memory
Farhad’s unexpected departure has left a deep void in our hearts and his memory will forever stay with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

It is with a heavy heart that I write these lines—words I never imagined I would need to put to paper. I can only begin to imagine how hard this is for you all. In this moment of sorrow, I find myself turning to the eloquence of French poems that captures my grief more beautifully than I ever could:
"long sobs wound my heart, suffocating,
I recall the old days, and I weep.
I remember those joyful days.
I gather memories, and regrets too,
And I weep."
Dadashi will greatly be missed. Please know that my thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you during this painful time.
With heartfelt condolences,
Zohreh

I remember him well from my childhood and wish we had seen more of him over the years. My dad always spoke so highly of him and loved him. As he always said "Beh Omideh Diddar"
Hope to get to meet his kids and grandkids in the near future.
Love to all🩵🙏🏻
