Ethan Gerard Fussell

Ethan Fussell was one in a billion, and the world feels so much smaller without him in it. This page is dedicated to honoring his memory.

Obituary

Ethan was born on April 7, 2003 to his biological parents, Bernier G. Jackson and Carolyn Jackson.  At the age of 12 years old, he moved in with his maternal aunt and uncle, Lisa and Tim Fussell, who raised and adopted him as their youngest son.  Ethan was an extraordinary young man, who overcame so many obstacles and accomplished so much in his brief lifetime. He survived a horrific motor vehicle accident, and he endured the trauma of being separated from his primary family members. Despite these traumatic events, Ethan was always known for his infectious laughter and beautiful smile. He was resilient and adaptable, and he was always willing to make the best out of any situation. Ethan was intelligent, handsome, and hardworking. He did everything with his whole heart. He will always be one of the toughest, yet kindest, people I have ever had the pleasure to know. He often worried that he wasn't truly seen or good enough, but he was always so deserving of love and acceptance. It was this world that wasn't good enough to him.

Ethan is the type of person who would do anything for those he cared about. He was selfless.  Ethan had an appetite for new experiences and adventures. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved, even if they didn't deserve his loyalty. He was funny and loved to make jokes and laugh.

On May 7, 2024, Ethan was mercilessly beaten and died at the hands of people he believed were his friends. It is a tragedy we will never be able to comprehend. Our only hope is that he is at peace with our Heavenly Father and smiling that big smile down at us, as the rest of us press on until we meet again in Heaven. Ethan is survived by his parents - Tim and Lisa Fussell; his biological parents - Bernier and Carolyn Jackson; his brothers - Cody and Caleb Fussell; his sisters - Kailey Jackson, Michelle Jackson, and Abigail Reddish; and his grandparents - Gerald and Yang Suk Kelly & Lawrence and Barbara Fussell. Ethan is also survived by numerous other family members, who love and miss him.

What was Ethan's favorite Travel destination?
Lake Tahoe. He loved the huge family house we rented and had so much fun sledding and snowboarding. Tim cooked big breakfasts, and we warmed up and dried out our gear by the large round fireplace.
