As we are set to bid Engr Z A Famokun, a final farewell, let it be known to all men that life is an inexplicable pattern of misery where no man knows when he was born and when he would die. And this notorious fact is deeply rooted in the fact that everyman is created by God with it’s work, and the talents are the guide, for no man can grow above and beyond his destiny, for every man’s destiny has relationship with God. So let it be with Zacchaeus Adeluse Famokun. Let it be with Ilara Mokin born boy. Let it be with former head,Electricial/Electronic Engineering department. Let it be with former Dean, school of Engineering, Federal Polytechnic, Ado- Ekiti.
Engr Z A Famokun meant different things to different people. To his darling wife, he was a dutiful husband. To his children, he was a loving and caring father. To his in-laws, he was a reliable and responsible father in-law. To me, he was a friend, a brother and a senior professional colleague of about 40yrears, and loosing someone of this length of time of association can be painful and demoralizing.
When it was my turn to take over as Head of Department from him, he did not hesitate but cooperated and stood by me to succeed. We were close and cordial even after retirement to the extent that he called to inform me the moment he made up his mind to donate some textbooks to the department.
Engr. Famokun has received a glorious exit and he is already with the Lord. He has not died prematurely and we can boldly say of him that he was a fulfilled man. He was an individual who came to the World. He fought and he conquered. I pray his soul will rest in perfect peace - Amen!.

*Our relationship dated back to over 47years ago.* *I knew Engr. Z. Famokun during our National Youth Service Corps in 1976/77 batch at Kano State.*
*He was then a young believer in Christ Jesus, very desirous of the Word of God and fellowship with brethren.* *He was very active in the Corper's Fellowship and his sacrificial love, humility and commitment were exemplary.*
*Engr Famokun was a very diligent and articulate person who settled for nothing less than excellence performance in both spiritual and secular issues.* *In his NYSC primary assignment,he distinguished himself among others so much that his Employer passionately pleaded with him to be absorbed into their Establishment for full time employment. He however turned down the offer because he wanted to come back to the South to join his family.*
*My relationship with Engr Famokun continued to grow stronger after the Service Year in Kano.* *After marriage, our families because very close too.* *My wife and first daughter put up with Engr Famokun and family in their official residence behind Ilesha garage,Akure between 1983 and 1985.* *We enjoyed great hospitality and love from the entire family which will remain indelible in our hearts.*
*Engr Famokun lived a life of sacrifice for others especially his immediate family and all those who had contact with him.* *He was accessible to both the low and the high in the society.*
*He was a father that combined discipline and love in raising up four godly and dependable children.*
*My family will miss his counsel, great sense of humour and many other things we shared together, but we're comforted with the the fact that he slept peacefully in the Lord and as a believer in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.* *We're missing him just for awhile but we shall by the grace of God,meet at the feet of Jesus Christ.*
*Sleep on beloved! Sleep beloved!! Sleep on beloved!!! until the glorious Resurrection Morning.*

It is with deep respect and a profound sense of gratitude that I write this tribute to a man whose life was a beacon of faith, discipline, and innovation—Engr. Z. A. Famokun. From the earliest memories of my childhood, he stood as an inspiring figure, embodying qualities that left an indelible mark on my life and the lives of countless others.
Engr. Famokun was not only a devoted Christian but also a man of unwavering principles. His faith was not confined to words but reflected in his actions, his integrity, and his deep commitment to serving God and humanity. He lived a disciplined life, setting a standard of excellence and godliness that was evident to everyone who encountered him.
As an engineer, his contributions were nothing short of remarkable. He was a trailblazer, a man ahead of his time, whose innovative mind brought to life the first inverter—a pioneering achievement that continues to impact modern energy solutions. His brilliance in engineering was matched only by his humility and his eagerness to mentor and guide those around him.
To me, Engr. Z A as popularly called by us, was more than a mentor; he was a father figure, a role model, and a source of inspiration. He taught me the value of hard work, the power of faith, and the importance of perseverance. His guidance shaped my values and career path, and I owe much of who I am today to his influence.
Though he has left this earthly realm, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the innovations he brought to life, and the example of a life well-lived in service to God and humanity. Engr. Z A Famokun's life reminds us that greatness is not measured by titles or accolades but by the impact we make and the values we uphold.
Rest well, dear mentor, father and friend, in the loving arms of the Lord you served so faithfully. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
