Obituary
In the quiet settlement of Jacmel, Haiti, about 29,434 days ago, a bouncing baby was born to the proud parents Silvera Pierre Saint and Norelie Contant on July 3, 1944, at 3:00 p.m. They discovered, “IT’S A GIRL!” and named her Elvire Nicole Pierre Saint. Elvire was blessed with 13 siblings: 8 sisters and 5 brothers. Most of the siblings, including Elvire, attended École Nationale de Montagne. After finishing school, she stayed in Jacmel, where she worked in the family business.
At the age of 17, Elvire found her first love, Fequiere Jean Mari Lubin, and with him, she conceived her first child, a beautiful baby girl, Marie Edward Pierre Saint. Years later, Elvire decided to move from Jacmel to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Elvire use her life skills her parent taught to survive in her new city, but she always dreamed of moving from Haiti to better her life for her daughter, so she worked hard and saved her money to fulfill her dream of moving to the Bahamas. After years of saving, she finally moved from Haiti. Nicole started her new journey from Haiti and landed herself in Guadalupe & Saint Martin where she tried learning the culture of these amazing places to see if the will be her new home, but knowing who she was, she had a dream of a better life in Bahamas. Not was stopping her to fulfill that dream. She finally arrives to Freeport, Grand Bahama, As she was learning the lay of the land, she joined many different organizations, such as “We Are One Haiti Community,” PLP, and found a church.
While settling in Freeport, she reconnected with a childhood friend in her new home. As they both built a bond, love took over. They both fell in love and raise 3 boy, Barry, Elios and Jimmy. The blessings from her parents followed her, and she understood that, as she built her family, she needed to put God in everything she did. During this time, she was also looking for a church home, and she began her Christian journey with Freeport Fellowship Center in the 1980s. Years later, she joined Voice of Deliverance, where God called her to ministry as a missionary, and she started ministering coast to coast. While doing God's work, she found her final church home, where she served as an Evangelist and choir director at New Canaan Zion Baptist Church.
Ms. Edgecombe, as she was known by many, had a long and distinguished career. She began working at Xanadu Beach Hotel, where she spent 14 years as a supervisor. After the hotel closed, she transitioned to Lucayan Beach Hotel, where she worked for 12 years. After 26 years in the hotel industry, she decided to work at A.I.D., where she became head of security for 20 years until she retired at age 65. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, cruising with her youngest son Jimmy, and spending time with her grandchildren.
