Obituary

Elizabeth Irene Ortiz, age 75, from El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026. Born on January 6, 1951, Elizabeth was a beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of her community back in Ruidoso, New Mexico where she resided close to 15 years of her life, before moving to Austin, Texas in 2024. Elizabeth was a born-native of El Paso, Texas to her deceased parents, Carmen Lucero and Eduardo Herrera, both whom were Mexican descents. A 1969 graduate of Austin High School, attended El Paso Community College, and spent most of her career as an administrative assistant before retiring in 2011.

Elizabeth’s warmth and presence touched the lives of all those who knew her. She devoted her life to her family, sharing unconditional love and support with her husband, Alfred Ortiz up to his passing in 2013. She leaves behind three children, Patrick, Christopher and Kimberly including 8 grandchildren Krystal, Justin, Alfredo, Aziana, Alyssa, Isabella, Christian and Araceli, and her brother Hector Herrera. Her legacy lives on through the kindness she showed to others and her strength to overcome many challenges throughout her life that motivated so many who was in that journey the past decade of her life.

Elizabeth's compassion, gentle spirit, and sincerity will be dearly missed by a community of family and friends who had the privilege to know her. As many mourn her loss, they also celebrate the rich life she led and the lasting impact she made to those who knew her best.

Memorial Mass Service
Arrangements for a memorial service will be held on July 17th, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi in El Paso, Texas at 11am. We look forward to coming together to celebrate her new life in heaven.

Nacida el 6 de enero de 1951, Elizabeth fue una esposa y madre muy querida, así como un miembro apreciado de su comunidad en Ruidoso, Nuevo México, donde era residente aproximadmente 15 años de su vida. Elizabeth nació en El Paso, Texas, hija de los fallecidos Carmen Lucero y Eduardo Herrera, ambos de ascendencia mexicana. Se graduó de la escuela secundaria Austin High School en 1969, asistió al El Paso Community College y desarrolló la mayor parte de su carrera profesional como asistente administrativa antes de retirarse en 2011.

Dedicó su vida a su familia, compartiendo amor y apoyo incondicional con su esposo, Alfred Ortiz, hasta su fallecimiento en 2013. Deja tres hijos —Patrick, Christopher y Kimberly— y ocho nietos: Krystal, Justin, Alfredo, Aziana, Alyssa, Isabella, Christian y Araceli, y su hermano Hector. Su legado perdura a través de la bondad que mostró a los demás y de la fortaleza con la que superó numerosos desafíos a lo largo de su vida; tuvo un impacto tan inspirador para muchas personas que la acompañaron durante la última década de su vida.

Amigos, vecinos y todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla extrañarán profundamente la compasión, el espíritu afable y la sinceridad de Elizabeth. Mientras su familia y amigos lamentan su partida, también celebramos la vida plena que ella dejaba huella perdurable.
