Elizabeth Ann Allen, “Liz,” passed peacefully at her residence in Sisters, Oregon on June 27, 2026. Liz was born November 9, 1948, to Gordon and Norma Allen in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
She attended school in Sedro-Woolley throughout, graduating in 1967. After school, she married and moved upriver to Birdsview, to raise a family with her husband, Alfred Massingale. It was during that time that she had the pleasure of serving as an EMT on the ambulance in Concrete. In 1992 she returned to Sedro-Woolley, and soon she became an aide for the school district. During that time she worked with disabled kids, a task that she found both challenging and rewarding. She then had a chance to partake in the sport of drag racing, serving as pit crew for her husband, Johnny Gross. Traveling the country, and even into Canada, she was able to attend many races and make many great friends.
Whether it was for those with two legs or four, she wanted to be there. She served as vice president of Ripley’s Horse Aid Foundation. She took in neglected dogs from puppy mills and shelters, sometimes giving them their last chance at a caring forever home. She always wanted to help.
Liz is survived by her brother Norman Allen and his partner, Elise Swonger; her children Trisha Pearson and Russell Massingale; son-in-law Donald Pearson and daughter-in-law Jamie O’donnell; grandchildren Michael Pearson, Daniel Pearson and Briana Hatcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Norma, in 2001 and 1991, respectively.
Liz was a loving mother and a dear friend to many. Some of you might remember the days when she prowled the valley in that Pontiac GTO. She could out-drive you, seriously. You’re lucky. We’re lucky. She will be missed greatly.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service.
