A Life of Faith, Love, Generosity, and Extraordinary Impact

Obituary

Loving Memory of Edward Allen Morris - A Man Who Loved God, Loved People, and Lived to Make a Difference.  Edward Allen Morris, affectionately known as Ed, was a remarkable man whose life was defined by faith, courage, generosity, determination, and an extraordinary love for others.

Ed was more than a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was a visionary, an entrepreneur, a leader, a provider, a protector, a trusted advisor, and a friend whose presence made a lasting difference in countless lives.

Born in New Jersey, Ed developed into a confident, intelligent, courageous, and ambitious man who believed in possibilities and was never afraid to pursue them. As a successful businessman, he broke barriers, created opportunities, and demonstrated what determination, hard work, and faith could accomplish.

Ed's greatest accomplishments were not measured by business success or financial wealth. They were measured by the lives he touched.

His generosity was extraordinary. Ed gave freely, often unexpectedly, and frequently without recognition. Whether helping family members achieve financial security, blessing someone with a vehicle, supporting a person through difficult circumstances, or placing a $100 bill into the hands of a complete stranger, Ed found genuine happiness in making someone else's life better.

He especially loved seeing the joy on people's faces when they received an unexpected blessing.

And when someone thanked him, Ed would often say:

"Don't give me glory; give glory to God".

Those words reveal the heart of the man.

Ed loved God deeply. His faith was not merely something he spoke about; it was reflected in how he lived, how he gave, how he encouraged others, and how he cared for his family.

He was source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and reassurance. His family could depend on him not only for his generosity, but also for his guidance, honesty, confidence, and unwavering love.

Ed believed in helping people rise, in creating opportunities, and in sharing the blessings he had received.

His influence extended far beyond what any one person could fully describe. There are stories of his kindness that his family knows, stories that others carry in their hearts, and undoubtedly countless acts of generosity that may never be known.

Ed's life reminds us that true wealth is not simply what we accumulate, but what we give, whom we help, and the love we leave behind.

Although his earthly journey has come to an end, his influence continues through his family, the people he helped, the opportunities he created, and the faith and generosity he demonstrated throughout his life.

His story deserves to be told.

His kindness deserves to be remembered.

And his legacy deserves to continue.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever a blessing.

Ed's 33 NJ Years

Ed's New Jersey Years — A Foundation of Love and Lasting Connections

Ed's 65 years were filled with love, meaningful relationships, remarkable accomplishments, and countless lives touched along the way.

He spent approximately 33 years in New Jersey and 32 years in Georgia — nearly half his life in each state. Both were home, and both played an essential role in his extraordinary journey.

Where His Story Began

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Ed was a gifted young man with a passion for music. He graduated from Newark's historic Arts High School, where he studied instrumental music and played the saxophone.

As a young man, Ed was quiet, reserved, and somewhat of an introvert. He could spend hours practicing his saxophone, filling the family home with music from morning until night.

Even then, the discipline, determination, and individuality that would later define his life were taking shape.

A Young Man Destined to Lead

Long before becoming a successful businessman in Georgia, Ed demonstrated a natural ability to lead and inspire others.

He began working in the fast-food industry, including Burger King and McDonald's, rising from entry-level positions into management. He later worked for the United States Postal Service, where he again advanced into a management position.

Ed's entrepreneurial spirit also emerged early. He once purchased a food truck and enlisted his mother, Dorothy, to prepare hamburgers and hot dogs while he handled the selling.

Although short-lived, the venture reflected his creativity, initiative, and willingness to pursue new opportunities.

Each experience helped prepare him for the businessman and leader he would become.

More Than Coworkers — The FedEx Family

One of the most meaningful chapters of Ed's New Jersey years began at FedEx, where he once again worked his way from an entry-level position into management.

But his greatest impact reached far beyond his professional accomplishments.

Many relatives and friends worked alongside Ed at FedEx, including his beloved mother, Dorothy, who eventually retired from the company.

Those workplace relationships developed into an extended family built on friendship, respect, loyalty, and shared experiences.

As a manager, Ed encouraged his team through the FedEx public-address system with one of his favorite expressions:

"Teamwork makes the dream work"

He believed in putting safety first, thinking outside the box, going the extra mile, and recognizing what people could accomplish by working together.

More than three decades later, the friendships formed during those years remained strong. Though Ed eventually moved to Georgia, the love and respect of his New Jersey FedEx family never faded.

Their enduring connection is a beautiful reflection of the leader, mentor, and friend he was.

Lifelong Family and Friends — Bonds That Time Could Never Break

Ed's New Jersey years were enriched by treasured family relationships and lifelong friendships that remained close to his heart.

Among those cherished connections was the Peacock family, whose friendship with the Morris family spans more than six decades.

A particularly loving acknowledgement goes to "Faye Peacock, affectionately known as Aunt Faye", who has been part of Ed's life since his earliest years.

Aunt Faye attended Ed's very first birthday celebration and, through her lifelong friendship with his mother, Dorothy, became a beloved member of the extended Morris family.

She later became Kim's godmother, sharing in family milestones and creating precious memories across generations.

For approximately 64 years, Aunt Faye and Dorothy have maintained a remarkable friendship filled with love, loyalty, shared adventures, and cherished memories.

As Ed pursued his dreams, Aunt Faye remained among those who believed in him and encouraged his ambitions.

Her enduring friendship, along with the love of the entire Peacock family, represents an important part of Ed's New Jersey roots — relationships built on faithfulness, encouragement, and bonds that neither time nor distance could diminish.

Aunt Faye and the Peacock family, thank you for more than six decades of friendship, love, and unwavering support. You will forever hold a treasured place in Ed's story and in the hearts of the Morris family.

From New Jersey to Georgia — Carrying Family and Friendship Forward

When Ed relocated to Georgia in 1994, he began a new chapter filled with opportunity, growth, and remarkable accomplishments.

But he never forgot his roots.

His 12-year-old son, Lil Ed, and his brother and lifelong friend, Bobby McBride, made the journey with him. Bobby later brought his wife and four children to Georgia, continuing a friendship with Ed that had begun many years earlier in New Jersey.

In 2000, Ed's sister Kim and her husband, Reggie, relocated to Georgia. His mother, Dorothy, followed in 2001 after retiring from FedEx, with Kim helping her settle into her new home.

Ed's brother Tracy also eventually made Georgia his home, further strengthening the family's connections.

Ed's vision was never simply about his own success. He wanted the people he loved to experience opportunities, build meaningful lives, and succeed.

The family bonds, lifelong friendships, and values cultivated in New Jersey became part of the foundation for the extraordinary life he continued building in Georgia.

Honoring Everyone Who Shared His Journey

To our beloved New Jersey family, the Peacock family, extended family, lifelong friends, former coworkers, FedEx family, business associates, and everyone whose life became connected with Ed's, we extend our deepest love and gratitude.

Whether you knew Ed as a quiet young man practicing his saxophone, a hardworking employee, a respected manager, a trusted friend, a loving relative, or the generous businessman he became, you were part of his journey.

Ed did not leave his New Jersey life behind when he moved to Georgia. He carried its lessons, relationships, values, and treasured memories with him.

And through every chapter, his faith in God remained central to the man he became.

One extraordinary life. Two places he called home. Countless lives touched. A legacy that will live on forever.

Forever Loved. Forever Remembered. Forever in Our Hearts.

My memories of Eddie. Worked with him at FedEx Express in Newark. He was one of the kindest, hard working and one of the best managers I have ever worked for. He was more concerned about his people than his self. There’s just not enough words to tell you how great this man was. Eddie will truly be missed. And yes I’m still here.

I was not blessed to meet Mr. Ed, but was told of him by his brother. I understand Mr. Ed to be a Godly, generous gentleman and I know God has honored that. I pray that as Mr. Ed sleeps in the grave, the family will continue to live in such a way that they will meet their dear family member again. God is coming soon. Then all the righteous living and thiose sleeping in death will be awaken from the grave to go back with Jesus. Let us all be ready.

A Special Music Memory of Ed

My brother Ed Loved the beautiful sound of the saxophone and he played it too.

I remember traveling from North Carolina with him when he specifically asked me to play "Mister Magic" by Grover Washington Jr.

That moment has become another precious memory of my brother.

I'm sharing that song so family and friends can enjoy a little piece of the music Ed loved.

In Loving Memory of My Brother, Ed ❤️

My beloved brother Ed, you were so much more than a brother to me. You were my protector, my advisor, my confidant, my encourager, and one of God's greatest blessings in my life.

Your generosity touched countless lives, often in ways that only God knows. You gave so freely, loved so deeply, and always reminded us, "Don't give me glory; give glory to God."

You taught us that true success is not measured by what we accumulate, but by the lives we touch and the love we share.

I Thank God for every memory, every conversation, every laugh, and every precious moment God allowed us to share.

Your earthly journey has ended, but your love, wisdom, faith, and extraordinary legacy will continue through All of us whose lives you blessed.

I will always Love You, My brother. Until we meet again. ❤️🙏🏻

With all my love,

Your Sister, Kim
