Your presence we miss, your memory we treasure.
Obituary
Eddy Merrick 80, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on the 21st of August 2024, in the comfort of his bed at Emmanuel Retirement home where he had been living for the past 2 years. Born on 2nd of February 1944, Eddy’'s life was a testament to his love for God, his family, dedication in everything he did, a wonderful work ethic and sense of humour that everyone who knew him will miss..
Eddy was a man of many talents and passions. As a young man he worked at the Post Office which taught him strict disciplines and principles and later he took those skills into JC Transport. It was this very company that lead him to meet the love of his life Marsha whilst helping her to move home. He immediately fell in love with her and 6 weeks later in 1971 they were married. Both Eddy and Marsha worked in many of their own businesses together whilst raising their children and he was exceptionally proud of his furniture and cabinet factories showcasing his skills as a master carpenter.
He always said he had married his one and only true love, a union lasting 46 years before Marsha passed away in 2017. Eddy missed her everyday for 7 years and we are comforted by thought that they are together again.
He is survived by his three children: Cindy, Mark, and Neville. Eddy will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Matthew, Benjamin, Shaun & Samantha, as well as 3 great grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Oupa”. His passing is mourned by his 3 surviving siblings Nelly, At and Hannes and the rest of his family and friends. Eddy's memory will live on through his family, whose lives have been enriched by his love, support and his example of faith in JESUS Christ.
