Like many others some of my fondest memories of Eddie were golf related whether with the Naunton Downs Strollers or the annual Devon trip staying at the Dolphin Hotel in Beer where Eddie was treated like royalty. I also had the privilege of working with him at Gloucestershire Enterprise where his commitment to and enthusiasm for local businesses, especially the small startups, was inspirational. He was truly one of a kind.

My earliest memories of Uncle Eddie are of family holidays in Wales. His kindness and twinkly eyed smile. Us kids running amok and the grownups chatting and laughing together. Happy days!
In later years taking Mum to meet the “bloody cousins” was always a good party.
A few years ago I was on a residential training course nearby and paid a visit. Over dinner I may have grumbled about the premier inn I was staying in. Eddie laughed and thanked me for staying there as it was paying his pension. The Prem has been my go-to accommodation ever since.
A wonderful man ❤️

I have many fond memories of Eddie, through Mum, who has so many wonderful memories of growing up with him. He was a constant and much-loved part of her life.

For me, the memories that particularly stand out are of times when I was a child we spent together on holidays in Aberdyfi and later, when my children were young, meeting up with Eddie and Helen and Anthony’s family in Dorset, near Lyme Regis.

I will always remember Eddie for his kindness, his genuine interest in others, and especially the joy he took in his family. It was lovely to see that happiness and to share in it over the years.

He will be very much missed and fondly remembered.

My last memory of Eddie was a day at the College cricket festival this summer where we recalled numerous golf days, cricket grounds, working together with businesses and in the community His generosity, his humour and his pride in his children and grandchildren were foremost. I shall miss him more than words can say.

My memory of Eddie was his kindness and warmth. Gill and I enjoyed so many happy times at annual bbq parties for birthdays, golf, Woodmancote Society and various. He and Helen were the perfect hosts. Eddie was indeed a man for all seasons

My friend and colleague for over 55 yrs.
A distinguished career, the man who brewed Stella Artois for the UK market, this beer, from humble beginnings, went on to become one of the world’s largest breweries.
Eddie also led the Whitbread in the Community fund, donating many thousands of pounds to worthy causes in Gloucestershire (not least against the Meningitis foundation). I also served under his chairmanship of Gloucester Enterprise Ltd, where his influence impacted on many businesses in the county.
A keen golfer, a great sense of humour, always a pleasure to be with, I remember with fondness a golf dinner where he and I commanded the microphone to sing along on the Karaoke, we became known as THE ELDERLY BROTHERS.
So much more could be said about Eddie, suffice it to say that the title GENTLEMAN was never better attributed.
