Obituary
Katya was a young woman of many talents; she was an exceptional athlete, an incredible artist, and a stellar student at UMASS Amherst. Katya had big ambitions and high standards, majoring in neuroscience, she never backed away from a challenge. She pushed herself forward academically by taking challenging courses, with the goal of eventually pursuing a doctorate degree in neuroscience specializing in Alzheimer’s Disease. Her curiosity and talents didn’t end in the classroom, in her free time Katya actively focused on learning multiple languages, such as Spanish, Japanese, and Morse code, and spent countless hours creating beautiful art that resonated with all those who she chose to share it with. Above all, Katya was the kindest and most caring person, sharing her pure love, warmth, hugs, and support with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She lit up any room she was in with her bright smile and irresistible personality. She loved deeply and made connections easily, finding ways to connect with everyone she met. She was the most wonderful daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She left a lasting impact on all of us.
We will miss Katya deeply and remember her with love and fondness, cherishing the wonderful memories we made with her, and celebrating her life that she shared with us.

Memory wall
My sophomore year of high school, Katya and I had chemistry together at 7:30 in the morning. Even though it was the most miserable class Katya always had a smile on her face and managed to make me laugh every single day. We had to redo almost every single lab because we were always too busy goofing around.
Whether it was late night trips to Marshals, going to the beach, driving around, or just hanging out at my house I was always laughing and having a great time. Katya always had a way of making everyone around her smile.
