Emmanuel Eyo Dada

Your spirit will forever inspire and comfort us.

Epitaph

Emmanuel (Oluwole) E. Dada, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a dedicated member of his social communities, passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 71.

He is survived by:
⬥ His wife, Josephine Ena Dada
⬥ Children, Nsa and Eyo Dada
⬥ Grandchild, Uel Dada
⬥ A host of relatives, including his aunty, Ako Eyo Nnakende (Mma Bella); cousin, Nsa Okoho Eyo; in-laws; and care team, notably Rebecca Okon Archibong (Nne Ete), "his nurse" as he called her.

His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the values he upheld, and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

Life

Etenne, as he was fondly called, was born on September 12, 1954, to Dr. Timothy Ekundayo Dada and Gloria Adang Eyo Nsa in Jos, Plateau State Nigeria, where he grew up with his mother until she was transferred to Kano State in 1960. There, he was enrolled in and attended Holy Trinity Primary school until the civil war broke out in 1966 and was sent to Calabar to live with his mother's elder sister, Nkoyo Eyo Nsa. His aunty enrolled him in Big Qua Presbyterian primary school, where he attended until the completion of his primary education.

In 1967, he gained admission into the West African People's Institute (WAPI), where he began his secondary education until Class 2 before transferring to Hope Waddell Training Institute (HWTI). He completed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) O-Levels Examination at HWTI in 1971 and continued there until the completion of his higher school (A-Levels) between 1972 and 1973. He subsequently gained admission into the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) to study Veterinary Science and graduated in 1976. That same year, he gained admission into the University of Ibadan to study Animal Science and graduated in 1979. He went back to Jos (full circle!) to complete his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assignment in 1980.

Following his NYSC assignment, he joined the Cross River State civil service in 1981/1982 and left shortly after to join Livestock (Pfizer) Feeds PLC in 1983; a career that had him live in various parts of Nigeria, including Benin City and Aba. In 2000, he moved on from the corporate life and founded his own company, EEDADA NIG LTD, which he led until his passing.

Legacy

In 1985, Etenne married Josephine Ena Ekeng (Ekaete), and they shared 40 years of a loving marriage, raising two children, Mmakamba (Nsa) and Koko (Eyo), and becoming adoring grandparents to Uel.

He grew up with strong Christian and family values as well as a deep sense of community. He was baptized and raised in the Methodist church where he belonged until his passing; he attended Wesley Methodist Cathedral and was a member of the Men's Fellowship (Group B). He also belonged to the National Association of Seadogs and was an active, long-standing Seadog until his passing.

🕊️ Tribute to My Beloved Husband 🕊️

Even if all the earthly things were mine, without you by my side the world would have been worse for me. You were my companion, my support, and my comfort.

Etenne, I never knew you were going so soon. Your face was full of smiles on January 29, and I was convinced that we would be coming home together soon. I held on to that hope, and I did not imagine that this would be our goodbye.

Where have you left Uel, who has been so close to his Abuelo, to? My heart breaks when I think of him, and of how much he will miss you. I have been so moody with tears, and the house feels different without you. But even in my sorrow, I know that you are resting with the Lord.

Etenne, ebe uyen mi, I wish you a peaceful repose until we meet to part no more.

May the good Lord rest your soul and grant us all comfort and strength. ❤️

Tribute to My Father
(From me, my wife, and our child)

Today, we stand together as a small family (a husband, a wife, and a child) grieving the loss of a great man: my father.

To me, you were my guide, my protector, and my example of what it means to be a man. Everything I am today carries pieces of you, your strength, discipline, values, and resilience. You shaped my character in ways I am only beginning to fully understand.

From my wife, in her words:

“Grandpa, my dear father-in-law,

Even though I only had the chance to know you for three years, your discretion and the wisdom behind your choices deeply inspired me.

Thank you, Grandpa, for the model of wisdom you passed on. A wisdom my husband embodies today with such strength and dignity. Through him, your legacy lives on.”

To our child, Uel, you were “Abuelo”, a gentle presence, a source of smiles, stories, and quiet strength. Though he is still young, the love he received from you will remain part of his foundation.

You taught us that family comes first. That hard work matters. That integrity is not negotiable. That love is shown through actions more than words.

Your life was a testimony of sacrifice and responsibility. You carried burdens so we would not have to. You stood firm so we could stand tall.

Now, as I raise my own family, I understand even more the depth of what you gave us. I hear your voice in my decisions. I carry your lessons into the next generation.

Though we mourn your passing, we celebrate your legacy, a legacy that lives in us, a legacy that will continue through our child.

Dad, thank you for everything.
Thank you for the sacrifices we saw and those we didn’t.
Thank you for building a foundation strong enough for generations.

You will always be remembered.
You will always be honored.
You will always be loved.

Rest in peace, Daddy.
Grandpa.
Abuelo. 🤍

Daddy,

Like you, I am not one for too many words, so I will get right to it.

You were our voice of reason; steady, clear, and anchored, especially when things felt noisy. You were also a strong visionary. Beyond your unique ideas and what they produced, in any situation, you could see what mattered, identify what was relevant, and focus on it with a calm confidence that never wavered.

You are the smartest man I have known, and I loved how unbothered you usually were. In a chaotic world that can cause undue stress if we let it, you carried a quiet calm. You showed us that we always have a choice in how we respond to situations, and most especially to always think and act rationally or remain silent when emotions run high.

I am the most fortunate to have had you as my father, and I am very grateful for the discipline you instilled in us. You taught us to strive for excellence in all that we do, and you gave us a mindset that I will forever cherish i.e. that nothing is impossible, and if what we need does not yet exist, we can (and should) create it.

I am still disappointed that you left too early. Contrary to what you thought, I still do not think that 70 is old! When I visited last summer, I had hoped and prayed for at least ten to fifteen more years with you, but alas… Even so, I am consoled because you saw Koko and me grow into our independent selves, and you also got a chance to hold Uel. You touched many lives, and I am also comforted by the beautiful memories that are being shared about you. Above all, I am comforted that we will meet again at the Resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18).

Daddy your life fully embodied St. Paul's instructions to the Thessalonians to lead a quiet life, mind one's business, and work with one's hands (1 Thessalonians 4: 11-12). This has served us well and is a legacy that I will always uphold.

We will continue your legacy of discipline and service to community. We will carry forward your clarity, excellence, and calm confidence.

Sail on, Daddy, until we meet again ❤

A tribute to My Boss (Oga Dada),

Your dedication to our veterinary shop and your trust in me as your worker were truly inspiring. Six years of working with you were a privilege. Your compassion for animals and commitment to excellence will continue to inspire me. You'll be remembered for your wisdom, worth, kindness, and the trust you instilled in me. The last words I heard you say were "it is well", but I never knew that would be the last time I hear your voice. May your legacy live on in the lives you touched and the animals you helped. Rest in peace, sir.

Lady Josephine E. Dada,

The sad news of the demise of your beloved husband, father and grandfather, came to us as a great shock. Late Bro. Emmanuel Eyo Dada was a lovely and easy going member of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Wesley Cathedral.

His nature of work took him away out of town hence we see him whenever he is in town and he loves to worship with us.

No one expects death to come so soon to our brother, as a fellowship, we decided to choose a day and fellowship with our members. This will afford us (members) know the residence of one another, the period we spent in fellowship with Bro, Dada was a memorable one as his residence was the first to call on and he gladly open his doors for us. He was recovering quickly from illness when we visited as told by his dear wife, hence he could sit and share fellowship with us.

Dear Ma and family members, we urge you to hold fast on to the Lords'..... that the righteous though dead shall rise again on the last day.

We believe in it since our late brother seeks the land above to meet with His Maker, take heart and be consoled.

May the gentle soul of our beloved brother rest in peace - Amen.

TRIBUTE TO ETTE-NNE

Dear Mr. Emmanuel Eyo Dada, it is not often to have someone in three attributes of a friend, brother, and most of all - brother-in-law. But here we were blessed with you, and now you are gone.

Ette-Nne, as we fondly called him, was a remarkable personality - in his special afro hair looks, and then a typical character who enjoys engaging in intellectual discuss.

It is, therefore, with deep pain and solidarity in grief that we walk through this transition to glory, because you were an integral part of us all. Painful as the experience of your death stands, we remain resolute and steadfast because the mystery of death is one thing humanity can not unravel, especially as it is inevitable for all mortals.

One of our best memories of you was when you painstakingly led the rest of us in ensuring that our late Mother-in-law Eti-Eka (Ntunkae) Margaret-Mary Ekeng was given a befitting burial.

In the end, today, as you are finally laid to rest, we (our sister Josephine Dada, Nsa and Eyo Dada, Dorothy/Joe/Ekomobong/Maureen Itah) all need God's consolation to mend our broken selves to bear this irreparable loss.

We pray that God grants you eternal rest. Amen!

Adieu! Ette-Nne.

Dear Mrs. Josephine E. Dada,

The family received the news of the demise of your dear beloved husband, late Mr. Emmanuel E. Dada, with a heavy heart and deep sadness. The Pain of losing a loved one is better imagined, than experienced. But God knows why He does what he does and at what time. God almighty approved that it should be now. Please take solace in the fact that he was able to live a little above the biblical age of three score years and ten.

Etenne, as we knew him was a down to earth, remarkable, simple, focused, amiable, and loving person. He may have taken a bow, out of this life, but his legacies live on.

As we share in your grief, we pray that God Almighty grants you and your children peace, comfort, consolation and strength, as well as a brave heart, to weather this storm. May his demise bring the family loser together and may his legacies continue to live on, in the hearts of all those who came in contact with him in this life.

May you find strength and faith in the memories you shared together. May God almighty grant you and the entire family, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May his gentle soul, rest in peace. Amen.
