Dr Richard Dungu will be remembered by our family as a wonderful, warm friend of so many years. Richard's calmness and grace always stood out - attributes which made him the ideal candidate to helm the leading vehicle in a convoy of cars for our occasional group driving adventures into Europe!

We will always treasure the day when Richard, Anne and Tanya visited us on a warm, early summer's day last year. We had such a wonderful time together.
It has been a privilege to know Richard, an honour to call him a friend.
May Richard’s Soul Rest In Eternal Peace 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Uncle,

The heaviness I feel in my heart from your loss is balanced out with deep gratitude and love for so much you gave me and my family.

You were there for every single significant milestone in my life and your home was my home…from the start of my life until the end of yours.

I’m so thankful for the gift of your life.

You were calm, patient, peaceful, positive and generous (in a multitude of ways). These characteristics defined the person you were in this life and the priceless memories you have left for us.

Webale nyo ssebo.

May you rest in perfect peace.

Farewell, dear brother and lifelong friend, Richard.

From our very first Christmas together in 1974 to our very last Christmas just months ago, having you in my life has been a joy and a blessing.

I will forever be grateful for your kindness, your warmth, and the calm, positive spirit you brought into the moments we shared and I am deeply thankful for the constant love and support you gave to me and my family throughout the years.

It has been one of life’s greatest gifts that we were able to watch our children and grandchildren grow together, forming strong bonds, and it remains a beautiful part of your legacy.

I miss you, I love you, and I will carry you with me always.

Until we meet again, farewell dearest brother and lifelong friend. Rest in peace.

Richard, we give thanks to God for your life. And we thank you for the beautiful life you led.

You always supported the Lubega family - from the day we met at Nicholas’ baptism until that sad day when God called you. You have been a wonderful friend and a consistent presence in our lives.

You loved all the kids and grand kids incredibly and were so generous with your time and energy, never missing any functions - baptisms, communions, confirmations, kasikis, weddings, family celebrations - and more. Always there. Always present.

We shall remember you as gentle and kind; a family man of calm, class and composure.

Richard, we love you and we shall miss you dearly. We pray for you to rest peacefully and we know you will continue to stay with us in spirit.

Dear Family and Friends,

As we gather with heavy hearts to honor the life of my beloved uncle Richard, I find myself reflecting on the immense impact he had on all of us. My heart is with you all in spirit with fond memories for a remarkable man who touched so many lives.

Uncle Richard was not just an uncle to me; he was a beacon of strength and kindness. His laughter could light up the darkest rooms, and his wisdom was a guiding light for all the family. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued.

When I last visited London and his home to be precise a few years ago in a cold December month, it started snowing the morning I spent my first night and he came to my room to wake me up so I could catch it with my little nieces and cousins. We made snow angels with the kids.

The legacy he leaves behind will forever be a part of who we all are as family.

Let us remember our Uncle Dad Brother Grandpa Richard not with sorrow, but with the joy and love he brought into our lives.

Though I cannot be there physically, I hold each of you close in spirit. I send all my love and heartfelt condolences to my beloved cousins uncles aunties his grandkids all the family and his friends who are grieving this significant loss. Together, let us honor his life, reflecting on the beauty he brought into this world.

With much love & sadness,

DR. RICHARD DUNGU
A Rare Breed

From the Great Kingdom of Buganda
A son was born.
Through the mighty hills of the Pearl of Africa
This son excelled.
Makerere University was a no brainer
Determination was his moto
Becoming a medical doctor was his goal.

The Pearl of Africa became a limiting factor
For his dream was to extend his wings to the highest cloud
British Airways delivered him to England
England loved this son of Africa
He mastered his choices to unbelievable dreams
Dreams that carried him to the top of his game.

London town became his permanent residence
Chelsea and Hammersmith were his pass time resorts
This is where
He mastered his beer production hobby which was a mix of
Notting Hill Gate and Oakley
We enjoyed a chilled pint at our own risk.
Thank you, Richard!

Family life was his love
Ann was his forever girlfriend
His children were more precious than gold
A love unconditional.

His love for Buganda
Always within his thoughts
The medicine he practiced
Always extended to community with love
For he always remembered his walks through Swiss Cottage and Golders Green.

London, Bromley, Catford, Brixton, Chelsea, Hampstead
Were awakened by your presence
Guiding, nurturing, loving
You were our handsome doctor
Forgetting you will be hard
Loving you will be forever.
REST IN ETERNAL PEACE DR. RICHARD DUNGU
