Dr Mark Fromer

I'm a distant cousin of Mark's, and I experienced how knowledgeable and caring he was when I consulted with him years ago about my vision and the possibility of having Lasik surgery.

Much more importantly, I saw Mark's kindness and concern for family as we worked together to care for his elderly grandfather Joe while Joe was still residing in New York, into his late 90's. Mark did everything he could to honor and help his grandfather, including visiting him, bringing him places, providing some very late in life eye surgery, and doing all he could to honor his grandfather's wishes. I had a couple of personal conversations with Mark, and he was always funny and thoughtful. Our last conversation by email was about his grandfather's family from Europe as he was interested in family history (I think the Fromer family is related to a well known Rabbi Frumer who died in the Holocaust, but I am not sure). I only wish I had known Mark better... My condolences to his sister, daughters, and all of his relatives, friends, co-workers, and patients.

Dr. Fromer performed my 2 cataract surgeries in 2022 and subsequently a retinal procedure. Superior physician and gentleman. His passing is so very sad. My condolences to his loved ones.

My deepest condolences to his family! While first I was his sister's patient, recently I became fond of Dr. Mark Fromer, as he would come to the Queens office, next block from where I live. What a mensch! I am really shocked and heart-broken as I saw him a couple of months ago and he was his usual self, happy go lucky. His legacy will live on. May he Rest In Peace!

I had a sudden eye emergency back in 2022 and the Eye Center was able to see me immediately. Dr. Fromer tended to me personally and repaired the partial retinal tear. Very personable & funny, but quite professional. A loss to his family and the community he served. One year younger than I. So young! My heart felt condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.

I had the prevlage of first meeting Dr. Fromer about ten years ago ,he was my Doctor for my Diabetic retina, he was so wonderful ,I will miss him Dearly. My he rest in peace 🙏

Mark Fromer trained my husband , Dr. Robert Ross , in ophthalmology and he was always kind to both Robert and I . We last saw him about 7-8 years ago in New Orleans at an ophthalmology meeting . We both considered him a mentor we are sad to hear of his premature passing. May he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

When I heard about Dr. Mark Fromer's passing it was a shock to say the least. I worked for Mark from 2000 to 2004 as his C.O.A. and Retinal Angiographer. He was a great Retina specialist and a nice man to work for. I have since moved to Maryland where I went into the fire department but always remembered my time with Fromer Eye Centers. The Ophthalmology field lost a one of the best in his field and I wish his family all the best.at this difficult time.

I worked with Dr Fromer for many years since the days at St Vincent’s Hospital ordering supplies for him I was also a patient deeply saddened of this news my condolences to his family.

My condolences to the family. I was saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. I remember him as a funny and very caring doctor. I had seeing an eye specialist like him ever before. His clinics were always well staffed and willing to help. I am already lost as to what to do next in finding someone as kind hearted and giving as he was. I’m so deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Mark Fromer . The practices were so effectively run and the services I believe was top rated. I don’t know if I’ll find an eye doctor with a practice so efficiently run as all the fromer eye clinics. I had eye surgery in both my eyes a year ago. Am currently trying to find an eye Dr. as I need my eye drops, which I can’t do without.

I am so sorry for your loss, I was speechless when I heard the recording. Dr. Mark was so nice and fun. He was always happy to remove my eye lashes causing me problems. Not only was he a great doctor, his office is the only office to actually pick up the phone when I would call. What a loss to his family and his patients. So very sorry to hear this very sad news of Dr. Mark Fromer's passing.. Dr. Susan Fromer has been my Dr for many, many years and she also operated on my Dad, in his 90s at the time, Am deeply saddened for her loss and that of the family. He referred me to one of the top cornea surgeons in the world Dr Eric Donnenfeld who successfully corrected my vision after the hyperopic shift due to a past RK surgery. I am so extremely saddened to hear that Dr. Fromer has passed. My young daughter underwent cataract surgery by his sister and he was present in her surgery in the event there were retinal issues. I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Fromer’s passing. I have always had poor eyesight and Dr. Fromer provided such excellent care. I recommended him to my co-workers. I don’t know what I am go7ng to do now because I had such a level of trust in him that I have never had with my other doctors. Rest in peace.
