Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember you have within you the strength, patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.

Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce that Dr. Catherine Ann Joseph, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and advocate for student success, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026 in San Diego, CA at the age of 83.
Catherine dedicated over forty-five years to higher education as an administrator, counselor, and mentor. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern University, her master’s from the University of Vermont, and her doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder.
After relocating to San Diego, Catherine served for over two decades as Dean of Academic Advising at UC San Diego’s Warren College. She co-founded the UJIMA Network at UCSD, advocating for student scholarships and educational pipelines long past her 2009 retirement.
Beyond her career, Catherine lived with vibrant energy, deep faith, and joy. Her greatest devotion was to her family: her beloved husband, Henry; her children, Robin, Kimberly, and Reggie; and her cherished grandsons, Ethan, Quentin, and Zane. She will be remembered for her strength, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering belief in others. Catherine's passing leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories, lessons, and moments shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Catherine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
