Obituary

Donna Lee Cummins, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the age of 70.

Donna was born on September 22, 1955, to Robert Hall Perrins and Jean Shirley Gibson, and was also lovingly raised by her adoptive father Elmer Dunn. All of her parents preceded her in death. On October 20, 1970, 15-year-old Donna, eloped with the love of her life, 18- year-old David Michael Cummins. They shared many years of marriage and life together until David’s passing on July 31, 2014. Their love and commitment remained a defining part of Donna’s life.

Donna was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ and aimed to live her life in a way that honored Him. Her faith guided her words, actions, and relationships, and was reflected in the compassion, grace, and love she showed to everyone she met. She held firmly to the promises of Scripture, especially the assurance found in Romans 8:38–39:

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Donna was known for her listening ear, kind and thoughtful responses, and her deep love for her children and grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for many young people over the years, delighting in spending time with them and offering encouragement, understanding, and unconditional love. These same qualities defined her friendships—Donna was a beloved friend, loyal, compassionate, and faithful, whose presence made others feel seen, heard, and valued.

Donna is survived by her two daughters, Meredith Lynne Cummins and Kimberly Jo Odegaard, and their families (Michael and Morgan, Matthew, and Mason Lund, Natalie and Andrew Gilliam), Kimberly’s husband, Jeremy Odegaard and their sons, Caleb and Riley. She is also survived by her siblings Bob, Debbie, Judy, Stefanie, and Charla.

Donna’s life was a testimony of faith, love, and joy. May those who loved her find peace in the knowledge that she is now in the presence of her Savior and enjoying the Lord forever.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)

Donna always had a bright smile, sunny glow and kind word to offer. Every time I was in her presence, I left encouraged. Despite how she was feeling, Donna often rose above to exude the Lord’s love and grace. I’m thankful to have known Donna.

We shared many of the same difficulties, and she often encouraged me. We learned together to trust God in all things and still have joy in our trials.

So many memories!! So many times of deep prayer together, sweet talks with her and Penny H., tears for our loved ones, and sharing life's joys, sorrows and struggles---. " Do we hafta be godly today?" Donna and Penny taught me so much of God's love, grace and forgiveness.
Donna had a firm kindness about her. She would listen to your words but try to hear what your heart was saying. She loved Jesus fiercely and He was the One she always wanted to please. And she did.
When you were in her presence you felt close to Jesus- because she was- and it made you want to be too. I am forever grateful to God for bringing Donna, Penny and I together- a very unique and special friendship that was a gift from God.
I loved her very much and I look forward to the day when we will have that joyous reunion - no more pain, sin, or death- the light of Christ will fill our hearts and we will see fully! Oh what a day that will be!!! I'll see ya on the other side Donna! Thank you for being my friend- for being such an example of Christ to me for all those years. I love you!!

I'll tell you a secret
As Donna and I ate Chinese food and coffee ice cream she would get out her scissors and cut out my tangles so my daughter wouldn't put me in a home.
I once said to her, I probably love my dog too much. Donna said there is no such thing. She was a wonderful gift in my life that I loved well. I'm so excited to see her again, with her new, healthy body, smiling at Jesus

Donna, who I endearingly called “Nanna” because she was Caleb and Ryley’s Nanna and since she always made me feel cherished in her company.
I remember a piece of wisdom she gave me while my sons were young. She said “be patient, knowing it usually takes at least 15 minutes to deal with an issue with your kids.” This helped temper me and I have implemented this concept throughout my child rearing years.
I will miss her and it makes me cry to think I can’t give her a hug and laugh with her anymore, but I’m thankful her faith has been made into sight. What a lovely human to have known!

I could rely on Donna’s smile— broad and inviting— to greet me anytime I saw her. It was such a blessing to me that I would seek her out every Sunday just to feel so loved. It was a gift with her. Her physical limitations were no match for her spirit, which was indomitable.

Donna & Dave & Meredith are the ones who introduced me to the Lord's eternal grace. Thank you so much for taking me in at 8 years old. We will miss your loving spirit, but I know I will see you again.
