Obituary

Donald Ray Formby, a beloved husband, father, and friend passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 81. If you asked people to describe Donald, they'd smile first as they searched for the right words. Everything you needed to know about him could be found in their smiles.

Born on September 9, 1943, in Magnolia, Arkansas, he moved early to Gladewater, Texas where he grew up and was a proud graduate of the Gladewater H.S. Class of '62.

Donald met his wife Cherryle Nyvall Formby at Kilgore College and they were married for 60 years. He was her travel partner, sous chef, and best friend. 

Donald is survived by his wife, Cherryle, his favorite son, Derrick Formby and daughter-in-law, Ann Parry Formby, his favorite daughter Dori Formby Young and son-in-law Chad Young. He has 7 cherished grandchildren, Pearce, Cole, Anna Claire, Ben, Stone, Ella Kate, and Cade. 

His laughter, stories, honesty, and wisdom will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

All are invited to the celebration of life service honoring Donald, on March 3rd at 2pm.
Held at St. John the Apostle United Methodist Church at 5450 Mansfield Road, Arlington, TX, 76017.
