Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Denise Little, who was born on September 29, 1952 and passed away on Thursday, March 5th in Newark, DE.

Denise will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her quiet ability to bring people together. Family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues all experienced the warmth and sincerity that made time spent with Denise truly meaningful. She had a special way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved simply by being herself.

Above all things, Denise loved God. She had a strong and personal faith in Jesus Christ and believed deeply in the power of prayer, love, and guiding her family toward their own relationship with Him. Denise was a minister of the Word of God to her children and to many others who crossed her path. Her faith was not only something she spoke about, but something she lived every day.

Those who knew Denise best would describe her as loving, strong, selfless, trustworthy, and a true fashionista. She had a natural sense of style and truly enjoyed fashion and shopping, a love that was sparked early by her beloved Aunt Nellie.

Music was also very dear to Denise’s heart. She loved to sing and was a member of a singing team called Euphony, where she shared her voice in praise and worship.

Some of Denise’s favorite songs included:
1. We Shall Behold Him
2. What a Friend We Have in Jesus
3. I’m Still Holding On
4. More Than Wonderful
5. Can’t Nobody Do Me Like Jesus

Denise found joy in the places that brought her peace and connection with the people she loved.

Some of her favorite places were:
• Shopping stores of any kind
• Visiting family
• Church
• Sandy Cove
• The Blue Mountains

She also had simple joys that reflected her deep faith and love for quiet moments.

Some of Denise’s favorite things to do were:
• Singing
• Reading her Bible
• Spending time with God
• Spending time in peaceful solitude
• Baking cakes

Throughout her life, Denise was shaped and encouraged by many important relationships.

Some of the most influential people and groups in her life were:
• Her mother
• Her Aunt Nellie, who introduced her to her love of fashion
• Her sisters
• Her singing team, Euphony
• Her nieces

Family meant everything to Denise. As a mother, she was a source of guidance, strength, and unconditional love. She poured her heart into caring for her children and nurturing their faith. As a grandmother, she brought warmth, wisdom, and joy to the lives of her grandchildren, creating cherished memories they will carry with them forever.

To her siblings, Denise was not only family but a trusted companion and lifelong friend. To her many friends, she was loyal, compassionate, and always ready to listen or offer encouragement.

The passing of Denise leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories she created, the love she gave, and the faith she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Denise will be deeply missed and forever lovingly remembered.

A Poem for Mom

Our hearts are broken into a thousand pieces. We lost our best friend, our role model, and our mentor.

Our mother was a big part of the good you see in us. She shaped our lives with her love, her wisdom, and her unwavering support.

At times we feel deeply broken, and at times we feel a sense of peace knowing she is no longer in pain.

We did this thing called life in partnership with her. For so many years she protected and guided us, and in the end we had the blessing of protecting and guiding her. That, in itself, is something we will always cherish.

She made sure we had a personal relationship with Christ, and for that we will be forever grateful. Her faith, strength, and love were the foundation of our family.

She helped raise our children, supported our marriages and dreams, and showed up for us in ways we didn’t always realize we needed. She touched every aspect of our lives.

There is no replacing someone like her. A part of us will forever be quiet and forever carry the ache of her absence. But another part of us will always be grateful for the love, wisdom, and memories she gave us.

She was surrounded by so much love in her final moments. She loved deeply, and she was loved deeply in return.

What a blessed life she lived.

Even with everything that was wrong, there was still so much that was right.

— With love,
Her children
Alexander, Paris, and Jon.

To my sweet, sweet auntie, my diary, my mama, my best friend, nothing could have prepared me for this. My heart is broken that you had to leave me, but I find comfort in knowing you’re finally at peace. I keep telling myself you were just too good for this world. I know you’re up there now, worshipping at the feet of God. I watched you suffer for so long, and that showed me what true strength looks like. Now you can finally rest. Well done auntieee

I’m so grateful I was able to give you your flowers while you were here and truly appreciate you. Everything I accomplish will be for you ! None of your prayers will go to waste… none of our talks, none of the wisdom you poured into me. I’m so grateful for every memory we shared, and I’ll carry them in my heart forever. You raised me my entire life, but this past year, when I became pregnant, you poured even more into me. You taught me what it truly means to be a woman and a mother, how to walk in grace, how to forgive, how to be a fighter, and how to stay soft yet strong through prayer.I love you and miss you more than words can ever express. I will forever be Annie’s big baby. And I can’t even walk into a store without thinking about calling you to show you everything I see… I miss that soooo much.

A Friendship That Spanned a Lifetime
By Debbie Baker

For sixty-two years
your mother and I walked through life together.

Through childhood days and growing dreams,
through the joys and sorrows
that life brings to every heart.

We stood beside each other
through the passing of my parents—
and your mother was there for me then,
just as she was through every season.

We shared so many chapters:
your grandparents,
your aunts,
the births of you all,
and the cousins too.

A lifetime of memories,
woven together with love,
loyalty, and friendship
that never faded.

Though my heart feels the weight of this goodbye,
I find peace in knowing
she is now resting
in the loving arms of Jesus.

And one day, in Glory,
I will see my dear friend again.

Until then,
my love and prayers remain
with all of you. ❤️🙏🏾

One of my mom's greatest wishes was that her children would know God and walk in His peace. She often shared this promise with us:

“All (my) children shall be taught by the Lord,
and great shall be the peace of (my) children.”
— Isaiah 54:13–15
