12.4.25 Kaitaia

Sitting under the Puriri tree
In your neck of the woods
Feeling your presence in this place
Like a touch of hand to a face

Life was a glass overflowing
For our sunny side up guy
Your joy lifting the weary soul
Paving streets with words of gold

Twinkly blues we will miss you,
The Mountains called your name, and you followed
Now your laughter echoes through the heavens
You loved to surprise – you got us!

Love from Kari-flea (Kari-tree)
Your adoring niece xx

Lots of memories with Denny and Colleen. Diving, social and growing up with Colleen and then Denny and the family on Barrier. I remember Den when I was a young lad and he was at Orama for a while. Then visiting the Turnbulls when they were living and running a business in Rotorua.....followed by lots of visits to the bookshop in Ponsonby and then of course.......the Barrier years. Denny and I did a fair bit of diving together and then the eating of the product of the sea! Always a great time and we are so glad we caught up when we did our road trip up north. One never knows what is around the corner so making the most of the time to connect is so important. Huge respect to a man who has shown character and commitment in life though his faith and love for his family and others

As a young person your support was much appreciated. You gave me a job at your shop Amaze that worked around my study timetable. You bribed me to stay employed with airfares to Bali. And I shared a room with Jamie while looking for a flat one year. We had a lot of laughs at Amaze, like the shop you were amazing. Family was the most important thing to Dennis. My thoughts and the Mabey family’s are with them at this time. I hope they are comforted knowing you lived life to the fullest.

We always laugh when we recall Dennis’s story of chasing down a shoplifter on Ponsonby road. Dennis managed to get him to hand over his wallet, extracted the value of the stolen item and sent him packing. We will miss your sense of humour and easy company.
Lots of love from us , my brother Mark and friends at the Herne Bay Rackets club.

Colleen, Nigel, Kylie, Jamie and all your whanau. In life "we all get a turn" but it is hard to fathom that Denny's "turn" has come so unexpectedly. Our thoughts are with you during this sad time.
Lots of love from the Amos whanau.
"That knowing smile
And mischievous twinkle of the eye
Your guiding light
Now shining, from way on high"
RIP Denny
