To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.

Obituary

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Debra "Debbie" Nelson, an exceptional individual known by many for her fierce intellect, caring nature, dedication to family, and unwavering faith. Debbie was born on June 6, 1959, and left our world to join our Creator on June 22, 2026. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved deceased children, Joseph Barlok and Steven Barlok. Debbie’s legacy of love and strength lives on through her surviving children, Amy Boyle (Robert), Michael Barlok, and Tyler Nelson; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Barlok; her cherished grandchildren, Brad Bressan, Dylan Barlok, Thomas Boyle, Madeline Boyle, and Mikey Barlok; and her precious great-grandchild, Amelia Bressan.
Debbie's entire life was a testament to her love for her family, faithfully serving the Lord, and her joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as traveling and documenting memories through her photography. She found mystery and beauty in the expanse of space, a common theme in her pictures, which inspires us all to seek the extraordinary in the ordinary. Her teachings were simple yet profound—love one another and always trust in God. As we part ways with Debbie, we take solace in the knowledge that she is now resting peacefully, embraced by the vast, mysterious space she loved, and under the protective watch of the Lord she unceasingly served.
In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised for "Support for Debbie's Family".

Service

Mom was very clear about one thing—she didn't want a memorial service. She wanted a Celebration of Life.

So, we're honoring her wishes a little differently and in a way we hope allows all of her friends and family, near and far, to be part of her Celebration of Life.

On Sunday, August 9, we invite you to celebrate Mom from wherever you are in whatever way you think she would have loved most. Plant a flower, enjoy a sunrise or sunset, look for a butterfly, dragonfly, or cardinal, spend time with your family, do something kind for someone else, or simply take a moment to smile and think of her.

While everyone celebrates from afar, we, her children, will gather in a small, intimate setting to celebrate Mom's life, share memories, and lovingly scatter her ashes.

We hope you'll join us in honoring Debbie the way she wanted—with love, laughter, gratitude, and celebration.

Donate

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to help support Debbie's children during this difficult time.  Donations will be used for memorial expenses, cover travel arrangements and hotel costs for out-of-town family and to offset unpaid time away from work.  We are incredibly grateful for everyone's love and support.
