Obituary
In Loving Memory of David Charles Plaskett.
David Charles Plaskett, born September 14, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep in October 2026 following a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Dave lived a remarkable life defined by curiosity, adventure, and a deep love of the natural world. From serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era to exploring the Alaskan wilderness, he pursued his passions as an archaeologist, anthropologist, entrepreneur, and avid cyclist.
He founded Hawaiian Islands Tea Company in 1995 and later established Wild Parrot Tropical Tea. His love of cycling took him on extraordinary journeys across Alaska, Canada, and the United States, and he shared his knowledge through published cycling guides. He also cherished his years in Alaska, where he built a log cabin and raised sled dogs beneath the northern lights.
Above all, Dave was a devoted father to Arnica and Tate, a loving brother, and a son who cared deeply for his family. His adventurous spirit, independent nature, and enduring curiosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be remembered for the many places he explored, the things he created, the stories he shared, and the love he gave his family.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2027 in Pensacola, Florida, with details to be announced.

Really enjoyed getting to know Dave later in his life. He lived with us in his final years and was very involved with his grandkids. “Grandpa Dave” was always helping with yard work, on his bike, working on one of his many projects, or goofing around making the kids laugh.

You will be missed Dave!
