Services details below.
A proud Vietnam veteran, David exemplified courage and commitment, carrying the experiences and bonds of his service throughout his life. Those who knew David quickly learned to expect a grin, a well-timed joke, or a bit of cleverly delivered sarcasm—he was always ready to lighten the mood and make those around him smile.
David was a spirited Raiders fan, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his team. His enthusiasm for the game brought friends and family together, filling his home with energy and camaraderie.
Above all, David was devoted to his beloved wife, Kathy, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership for 51 years. He was a loving and involved father to his two children, Justin and Nicole, and Papa to his two grandchildren, Lennon and Blake, cherishing every moment spent together. Whether telling a story, sharing a laugh, or offering wise counsel, David’s presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew him.
David’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and steadfast commitment to those dearest to him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

From Paul: I met David when we were both attending Palomar College. He had invited me to his house in south Escondido for one of the best parties I can ever remember, his were always the best!! It was 1976, 50 years ago and I was 19 at the time and had just returned to CA. Our friendship continued when he became a hair stylist and for many years he cut my hair and offered his words of wisdom. He was always positive and never let anything get him down. He was very polite, but didn't hold back when he wanted to get your attention by voicing an opinion, issuing some sarcasm or telling a joke to make you laugh. He was always so witty. He trusted me as his auto technician for many years and a good time was had by all whenever he brought his car in.
From Arah: I met David & Kathy in 1985 when I met Paul. David immediately accepted me into the group and there was always laughter whenever we were together. One of my funniest memories, that David never let me forget, was one Christmas Eve when we were helping the elves assemble toys and I put the stickers on upside down on Nicole's Powder Puff Big Wheel. We laughed for hours and he reminded me of that night every chance he got. Paul and I were so honored to be chosen as Godparents to Nicole and Justin. We were so fortunate that he was able to meet our own children and share his humor with them.
We were truly blessed to have had the privilege to be friends with David and he will be forever missed, especially when the Raider's game is on.
We are so sorry to miss the funeral in person as we are out of state but will be watching online and sending you all our love.

With love from the bottom of our hearts,
The Ocanto Family
Have a peaceful journey, brother.
