Obituary
Darren Quah Ban Lin, aged 49, passed away peacefully on 28 December 2025 in Singapore due to cardiac arrest.
Darren was a devoted husband to Elizabeth and a loving father to his 10-year-old son, Howard. He was deeply committed to his family and took great pride in being a caring and present father and partner.
Professionally, Darren was a highly respected and experienced PMO leader, known for his calm presence, pragmatic approach, and deep sense of responsibility. Over the course of his career, he made significant contributions to MSO Singapore, MyanCor Shanghai, and most recently Program RIMAU, where his leadership, structure, and steady guidance were instrumental in moving complex initiatives forward.
Beyond his professional achievements, Darren was remembered most for his kind heart and quiet generosity. He was never one to seek attention, yet he was always the first to offer help, guidance, or reassurance. Calm, genuine, and not easily angered, Darren brought a sense of stability and trust wherever he worked. Many colleagues relied on him not just for his expertise, but for his integrity, thoughtfulness, and humanity.
Darren believed strongly in teamwork, mentorship, and building capability in others. He was generous with his time and knowledge, and he left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside him. His absence is deeply felt, both professionally and personally.
Darren will be remembered as a valued colleague, trusted friend, and good human being—someone whose impact extended far beyond his role or title. His legacy lives on in the people he supported, the teams he strengthened, and the kindness he showed in everyday moments.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of genuine leadership and compassion will continue to inspire us.

To Elizabeth and Howard, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Darren was nothing short of a remarkable person, and I feel truly grateful to have worked with him. I sincerely wish you strength during this difficult time, and that you may continue forward with Darren’s love and blessing in your hearts.
So long, my friend. You will be deeply missed.

It was an honor to meet Darren and to work with him. I have great memories of when we first started working together in Switzerland in 2010, and later in Singapore ramping up operations, as well as through the many projects in China. We always shared great moments along the way.
Darren will always remain in our memories, not only as a great leader, but also as a very kind, caring, and genuinely wonderful human being.
I got to know Darren when the Singapore operations were being set up and during the first FDA audits of the Singapore operations. It was always a pleasure to work with Darren, focused and with a lot of laughter as well. Later, in the PMO, we were again part of the same team.
Rest in peace Darren, you will always be in my memories

To Darren, my Bro - I was lucky enough to be able to work beside you for the last 5 years. I have learned so much from you, and I am glad I got to tell you that recently. So smart, so funny, and so human. We will make you proud. May your soul rest in God's peace in paradise.

Both Liz and Howard will do well and I am keeping contact with. May you rest in peace and be blessed on the other side!

I remember the very first time I met him—his warmth, his encouragement, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. He was more than a leader; he was a mentor and a friend. He coached us with patience, guided us with wisdom, and led by example, always inspiring us to be our best selves.
Though he is no longer with us, his influence remains strong. The lessons he taught us, the support he offered, and the kindness he showed continue to shape who we are and how we work together. We carry his legacy forward in everything we do, and his memory lives on in each of us.
My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Darren’s leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment to building a strong Medtronic presence in his home country (He was so happy and excited when this project was kicked off) have left an enduring mark on all of us. His vision for the RIMAU program and the community it serves will continue to guide and inspire our work for years to come.
It is sad to lose such a wonderful person and friend. I will remember Darren and try to live by his example. May God bless his family and give all the strength to overcome this challenging time. May his soul rest in peace.

Rest in peace, brother.
I have only good memories with Darren.
Great, collaborative and smiling colleague.
This happened clearly too soon...
Let us honor his memory by making sure the projects he cared about become a resounding success and stand as part of his lasting legacy.
Thank you, Darren

For almost two decades, working with you on so many projects has been an incredible journey. I learned from you professionally, but more importantly, I came to know you as much more than a colleague. You became a trusted partner and a friend, and I will miss you immensely.
I will always remember the moment you first discovered the SMO operation and immediately understood the magnitude of the challenge ahead to transfer it to Singapore. You had a remarkable ability to stay calm when many of us would have lost it, to focus on solutions, and to keep a positive mindset so things could move forward for everyone.
I will also always cherish the great time we spent in Bintan, where we strengthened our team bonds, with you as a key part of that spirit.
MSO, and CRM across Asia, would not be what they are today without you.

I had the privilege of meeting him and, above all, of working alongside him. It was very pleasant to work with, his calm, professionalism, and dedication were remarkable. His commitment and the way he carried himself made a lasting impression on everyone who had the chance to work with him.
He will be greatly missed, both for his professional qualities and for the person he was.
Please accept my sincere condolences during this very difficult time. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who had the honor of knowing him.
It has now been ten days since you left us. In the past five years, I honestly can’t remember a single time when we went this long without talking. You were always there—whether it was a WeChat message, a quick Teams call, or an email. The silence now feels unreal. It’s still so hard to accept that we have to continue our journey without you.
You were so much more than a colleague to me. You were an incredible mentor, someone who guided me with patience and wisdom. You were an older brother—someone I could trust completely and who supported me without hesitation. And above all, you were a dear friend. I can never thank you enough for everything you gave—your time, your knowledge, your encouragement, and the kindness you shared so naturally. I will always remember your words: “Our friendship will last for a long, long time.” I still believe that.
You shaped my life in many ways. You helped me grow not just in my work, but as a person. So much of who I am today carries a part of what I learned from you, and I will carry your lessons with me always.
Even now, I still feel your presence—in quiet moments, in challenges, and in memories that feel as close as ever. I will always remember you like a ray of sunshine—genuine, warm, and impossible to replace.
Thank you for everything, Darren. You will be deeply, deeply missed. And you will always be remembered with love.
I’m grateful for the connection we built. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to inspire.
It is difficult to think about Medtronic’s Singapore Operations without thinking of Darren. He brought stability, experience, and leadership that benefited everyone around him. Most importantly, he was a kind and generous person. During my work travels, he always made time for us, often organizing dinners and making us feel like we were part of his family.
It is very sad to lose such a wonderful person and friend. I will remember Darren and try to live by his example. May God bless his family and rest his soul.
It is truly shocking and heartbreaking to hear about this incident. I have had the privilege of working with Darren for the past three years and have wonderful memories of Darren's kindness and the support he always shown to our team.
Please accept our sincere condolences and prayers during this difficult time.
I had the privilege of working with you on Project Rimau and you come across as a very respectable, clam and pleasant person. I really enjoyed working with you and I know for certain that you will be dearly missed the team.
Rest in Peace.
Warm regards
Gilbert

To Darren: Looks like we were fully prepared for the end of the world in that picture — and somehow still smiling through it. You will truly be missed. You were kind, gentle, and always brought a sense of fun wherever you went. Your presence made everything lighter, and your absence will be deeply felt. Thank you for your support.

My heart is with all of you during this difficult time. I’ve been thinking of you every day since I learned of this heartbreaking news. Please accept my deepest condolences and know that my thoughts are with you.
To Darren:
I truly wish I had the chance to meet you in person. It was an honor to work with you and learn from your expertise. You will be deeply missed. Rest in peace.
You were a kind-hearted person who was always willing to help others. Calm, genuine, and pragmatic, you carried yourself with quiet strength and deep experience as a PMO professional. You made exceptional contributions to the successes of MSO Singapore, MyanCor Shanghai, and, in the last year, our RIMAU program. More than that, you were a truly good and grounded human being — someone many of us relied on and will deeply miss.
I will always remember how proud you were to lead for Medtronic and in your country this greenfield program. Our team will honor your legacy by dedicating our efforts to deliver on this vision with the same passion and commitment you demonstrated every day.
MERCI pour tout Darren

This jacket was Darren’s.
It was my first time in Mexico, and I thought the weather would be like Malaysia. I didn’t realise how cold the evenings in Tijuana could be. Without hesitation, Darren kindly lent me his jacket.
That was Darren — thoughtful, caring and always looking out for others.

We will honor his legacy by continuing to deliver on our mission and the important leadership work we can do for Medtronic, our patients and our employees. Thank you Darren for being an inspiration to me.
