Darren Andrew Dickerson

A life that touched so many hearts will be forever remembered.

Obituary

Darren Dickerson was born in Brooklyn, New York, and later made his home in Maryland. He passed away on July 19, 2026.

Darren built a long career in the electrical trade and became a master electrician. He was a member of IBEW Local 26 and was approaching retirement after many years in his profession. Becoming a master electrician reflected the knowledge, experience, and skill he developed throughout his working life.

Outside of work, Darren loved music, family, and some good ol' D.C. go-go. He was exceptionally passionate about music, and was one of his many ways of expressing his love.

Darren leaves to cherish his memory his son, Brandon Byers; his longtime partner, Sophia Kidd; his mother, Hallie Dickerson; his sister, Sharrel Dickerson; his niece, Tianna Dickerson; his nephew, Jermaine Dickerson; his great-nephew, Malik Edwards; and members of his extended family, Shanelle Rucker and her son, Kente Rucker. He also leaves behind many other relatives, friends, coworkers, union brothers and sisters, and loved ones.

Darren’s life will be remembered through his family, the work he accomplished, the people who knew him, and the music he loved.

His family invites everyone who knew Darren to join them in celebrating his life and memory.

Pops... I love you, man. More than words can say. I love you through all the good, the bad, the lessons I still don't understand, and the mistakes. You helped shape the man I am, and no matter how complicated life is, I never will stop loving you. I miss the heck out of you right now, and I’ll carry your memory and your legacy with me.
