Obituary
Darcy (Peak) Rodger, age 49, of Hays, Kansas passed away February 15, 2025 in Hays. She was born July 6, 1975 in South Carolina daughter of Don and Gaylene (Duntz) Loyd. Her family resided in Kirwin, Kansas where she lived during her childhood years where she was raised in a loving home with her parents and siblings.
Darcy graduated from Agra High School in Agra, Kansas. Shortly after graduation she moved to Hays to further her education in nursing. It was there she met Alan Rodger and the two of them instantly fell in love and started their 31-year path through life. Through trials and tribulations, good times and bad their love for one another never wavered.
She received her CNA license and instantly pursued her passion of caring for the elderly. She worked at several different nursing homes throughout her career providing care and love to all she met. All were truly blessed to have such a caring person to see after them.
She then moved her attention to becoming a homemaker providing care, and a home filled with love for her two children. While at home she also continued to provide home health for the elderly. She loved gardening, her dogs, but mostly giving of herself to others.
Darcy was preceded in death by her mother, Gaylene Loyd. She is survived by her husband, Alan Rodger of Hays; her father, Don Loyd of Kirwin, Kansas; a son, Connor Rodger of Hays; a daughter, Grace Rodger of Hays; stepdaughter, Alexis Rodger of Salina; stepson, Braydan Rodger of Wichita; three sisters, Sheryl Cundiff of Stockton, Melissa Buxton of Norcatur, and Lacie Loyd of Kirwin; two brothers, Justin Bohl & Wife of Mineral Wells, TX and Brian Winters of Hays. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
The family would also like to give their eternal gratitude to Suzanne Bohl and Janetta Richardson for their loving and compassionate care for Darcy at the time she needed them the most.
The family takes comfort in knowing she is now with God. Darcy was loved by all and will be truly Missed.
There will be a private family celebration of life service at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock’s Chapel 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. Please leave a photo or a memory. Help us to spread her love.
The Chain
We knew little that morning that
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems to be the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

Darcy was my lifelong friend. We were sisters in every way that mattered. She knew my deepest secrets, and I knew hers. I know so many people feel this way about her, but I could be my true, authentic self with her. There were no pretenses or expectations, only respect and love for one another.
It’s true that Darcy was a rock to many. She was happy - always happy, smiling, laughing. No matter the circumstances. You couldn’t help but to be infected with her joy. She cared for so many people and is desperately and deeply missed.
I can only imagine how her family feels each time they go to talk her something or reach for the phone to ask advice. It’s a constant reminder of her absence, and a deep pain of not knowing who will fill that gap. Who will stand in that gap that only Darcy could fill?
I wish I knew. It will be different for each of us. It’s never easy finding someone you can trust with your vulnerability.
We were so lucky in life to have her, so very lucky and blessed. I will miss her every single day of my life until we see each other again.
God bless all of you who share this grief. You are indeed in my prayers. I hope the love of God surrounds you and you find the peace that passes all understanding in the coming months.
