In Loving Memory of Daniel Joseph Snitzky May 24, 1986 - April 21, 2025
Danny, a true protector in heart and soul, was a loving son, father, and friend. He was a dedicated Correctional Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice since 2009. Danny passed away at his family’s home leaving behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, creativity, and extraordinary kindness. He was more than a protector—he was a counselor, a confidant, and a source of light and strength for those fortunate enough to know him. Known for his quick wit, insight well beyond his years, and deeply caring nature, Danny had an unmatched ability to lift spirits, solve problems, and offer advice that truly made a difference. Danny always knew exactly what someone needed to hear—whether to ease pain, bring laughter, or offer guidance in life’s most difficult moments.
A man of many talents, Danny was an extraordinary artist and musician. Creating beautiful works through many talents, he painted, drew, crafted leather, and played guitar beautifully—often by ear. His creativity extended into his love for strategic games and painting miniatures with incredible detail, always seeking to engage both mind and imagination. He thrived on intellectual challenges and never shied away from helping others face theirs.
Danny wore his heart openly. He loved deeply and spoke honestly, always making sure the people in his life and close to him knew how much they meant to him and that they mattered. His impact on the lives he touched will never be forgotten. He is mourned by many who loved him dearly, and he is survived by some who never had the chance to fully and truly know him, but he loved with all his heart.
Danny lived with courage through numerous medical issues that he bore with quiet strength. Though this world often felt too small for the depth of his soul, he has finally found peace beyond pain—a peace he so richly deserved.
He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him, he will never be forgotten, and he will always be cherished. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts he touched.
Rest easy, Danny. You are finally home.

This obituary could not be more accurate when it comes to describing Daniel. Although I may have never met him, he was able to translate all of his qualities online for others to benefit from. He will be missed, truly. RIP Cats

The news of Daniel's passing was hard to hear, and I hope he's in a better place now. You were a charming, funny, and fantastic friend to all, evidently both in real life and online as well. I didn't have the honor of knowing Daniel personally, but I talked with him frequently via an online forum, and he was a great man who always knew how to spread joy and cheer, and bring a smile to everyone who interacted with him. He was an amzing human being, and he will be missed. Godspeed Daniel.

I don't think I ever spoke to him directly, but I always smiled seeing Cats' posts. He always left a fun, funny, lighthearted bit of nonsense in the midst of a really heavy world and I hope he knew how many people's days were a little brighter because of him. Daniel was likely the most universally beloved guy online on our forum. Didn’t matter their politics, demographics, or where they were from — everyone who was on there loved him and his posts. We’d celebrate when he came back from the occasional hiatus and plead for his return when he was gone. I can’t think of many other people that would even get a fraction of that level of love and respect. He positively affected so many lives and the world is better having had him in it. God bless Daniel and his family.

(I see other forum posters have gotten here before me) We only knew you as Cats online. You were a bright person with a quirky sense of humor. You loved cats and wrote extensively on your dear mother. If she's reading this, know that he deeply loved you enough to tell strangers on the internet about how awesome you were and how much you inspired him. He posted his silly art to us and told many stories of his youth. Cats, I always loved reading your posts online. You were always so polite and friendly. You loved making others laugh when you were going through dark times. I'm sorry you were hurting this badly, many of us have been there before. We appreciated the laughs and still do. Hundreds of random people will miss you. May you meet again with the orange cat you saved and rehabbed with your mother and any other friends you've lost along the way. I study economics as my job. I don’t know that Daniel, or Cats as he was to us, had any interest in it, but I thought it may make it personal to say: Adam Smith had this quote, “Mankind naturally desires not only to be loved, but to be lovely.” Cats was both. He was lovely and he was loved, dearly, by our community. He loved his cats and he shared it with us through a sense of humor that was unmistakably his own. A memorable and a wonderful human being. He’s with God now, and may he be at peace. We’ll all miss him.
