Obituary

Dale T. Stephen, 80, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on May 25, 2025.
Born on November 13, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late H. Carl and Mary Metzler Stephen. After moving to Harford County with his family, Dale graduated from Bel Air High school and then attended Bridgewater College and Harford Community College.
Following his schooling, Dale went on to join his father in the family home building business, H. Carl Stephen, Inc., which in later years would become Stephen Homes. Over the years, he earned a reputation as a dedicated builder, skilled businessman, and respected member of the community. His work helped shape the landscape of Harford County and provided homes for countless families.
Dale married the love of his life, the late Betty Duncan Stephen on August 14, 1965. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family and devotion. They were just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary upon his death.
He is survived by his son Dale Todd Stephen (Patti), and Lauren Stephen- Scarborough (Michael), both of Bel Air, MD. and his brother Harry Stephen (JoAnne) of Baldwin, MD. His brother Donald Stephen of Tampa, FL., passed away on October 4, 2025, prior to this posting.
Dale also leaves behind his grandchildren Evan Michael, Abigail Leigh, Elijah Todd and David, Michael, and Stephen Prichard.
Beyond his work, Dale was a licensed pilot before his health put an end to that passion. He was rarely without a camera in hand, capturing moments both big and small, preserving memories for years to come. His deep love of genealogy reflected his devotion to family- past, present and future. He believed in honoring where you came from and cherishing those around you.
His love for his immediate and extended family was evident in everything he did and his kind heart, quiet strength and humor is deeply missed but forever remembered.

Betty D. Stephen, 80, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on June 24, 2025.
Born in Baltimore on October 25, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of the late Dewey C. Duncan and Willie Wells Duncan. Raised in Towson, MD, Betty graduated from Towson High School and then attended Bridgewater college. She went on to earn her Registered Nursing degree from Harford Community College. After graduating she worked briefly at John's Hopkins Hospital in the labor and delivery unit before she went on to pursue and earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UMBC.
On August 14, 1965, Betty married her beloved husband, Dale T. Stephen, who preceded her in death.
Their family grew shortly after with the addition of their son Dale Todd Stephen and daughter Lauren Stephen (Scarborough).
She was a proud Grandmother to Evan Michael, Abigail Leigh, Elijah Todd and David, Michael, and Stephen Prichard.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Alan Duncan of Timonium, MD., her children, son in law, Michael and daughter in law, Patti.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brothers, Clayton and Billy Duncan, and her half sister, Imogene Hodges.
Betty was deeply sentimental about her family and the generations that came before her. She treasured the past and believed in preserving memories for the future. Her home was filled with carefully displayed family photographs- each one a reflection of the love she held so dear.
She also had a special fondness for cows and was known for her exquisite taste in jewelry. She loved anything that sparkled.
Her legacy lives on in the memories she preserved and the generations who will carry her spirit forward.
