To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Obituary
It is with the deepest sorrow that I share the news of our beloved Curtis Deprez's passing on Friday, July 3.
There are some people who make the world a little kinder simply by being in it. Curtis was one of those people.
He was the person everyone hoped to have in their corner – loyal beyond measure, thoughtful, brilliant, endlessly resourceful, and always ready to help. Whether you needed advice, a hand, or simply someone to listen without judgment, he was there. His humour was unmistakable – quick-witted, a little sassy, and perfectly timed. Above all, he cared deeply for the people in his life.
But the role he treasured most was being Dan's dad.
Dan was Curtis' greatest joy, greatest purpose, and unquestionably his greatest legacy. Everything Curtis did was driven by one goal: giving his son the best life he could imagine.
Curtis passed away peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind an immeasurable loss for all of us who loved him.
Curty, words will never be enough to express how much we love you, how incredibly grateful we are for every memory we shared, or how deeply we miss you.
Curtis taught us that love is something you do. So that's what we'll do.
We'll turn this immense pain into determination, this unimaginable sorrow into action, and continue showing up for Dan and for one another with the same courage, generosity, and love that Curtis showed all of us.
Let's carry Curtis forward the way he carried so many of us.
Let's continue writing Dan's story together.
With love,
Jorge
Many of you have asked how you can support Dan. The truth is, Curtis did what Curtis always did – he planned, he worked hard, and he provided for his son. Dan is surrounded by the love of his family and an incredible community who will continue to stand beside him.
We've created a fund to honour Curtis by investing in Dan's future – a lasting expression of the love so many people have for his dad.
