Colin John Creavalle

To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Colin John, who was born on 24th of January 1952 and passed away on 5th May 2026.
Collin John Earl Creavalle, affectionately known to many as John, was born on January 24th, 1952. Remarkably, he shares a birthday with his father, Cedric Creavalle. He was the second son out of seven children born to the late Cedric and Patricia Creavalle of Georgetown, Guyana, and received his middle name, John, from his great-aunt Silla. Growing up, John learned early on the values of responsibility and protection, developing a deep love and care for his parents, siblings, and extended family that would define his entire life.
John grew up in Georgetown, attending Hoydell Private School, Cambridge Academy, and later the Guyana Technical Institute, where he completed a course in plumbing. Recognizing his natural technical aptitude, he also attended trade school at a mechanics shop owned by his uncle, the late Joseph Creavalle. John was a true craftsman and a jack of all trades, if it was broken, John could fix it. His skills spanned plumbing, electrical work, and mechanics. He channeled these talents into his professional life, working for a number of years at the Shelter Belt (commonly known as Water Works) on Vlissengen Road. During his time there, John was a man of many hats: he was a skilled plumber, a truck driver, and even served his community as an auxiliary fireman. He loved the freedom of riding his bicycle and driving through the streets of Georgetown, always ready to lend a hand or protect those around him.
On September 18th, 1989, John migrated to the United States to build a new chapter. He adapted his strong work ethic to various roles in New York, working at OTB (Off-Track Betting) and as a security guard with Guardsmark, alongside various other establishments over the years. In 1990, John was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Gwendoline. Together, they shared over 30 years of companionship and life.
John defined strength, capability, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a brother, uncle, stepfather, and step-grandfather who always put his loved ones' needs first. He peacefully entered his eternal rest on May 5th, 2026—passing away on the same day as his late eldest brother Max’s birthday. He is now reunited with his late parents, Cedric and Patricia; his brothers, Max, Dennis, and Brian Creavalle; and his nephew, Brian Creavalle.
He leaves behind a vast and loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Gwendoline Creavalle, and family, including his step-granddaughter, Seola.
He is also survived by his brother, Patrick Creavalle, and his sisters, Jewel Creavalle Morrison and Margaret Creavalle.
