Your love continues to shine in our hearts.

Obituary

Colette had a profound love for music, and her appreciation for the arts was evident in every aspect of her life. Whether it was a broadway show, a music concert, or a powerful theatrical performance, she embraced the beauty and emotion that art brought into the world. As a teenager, Colette’s love of music and singing in particular was evident as she regularly treated the Thompson household to live performances of Evita, a selection of Barbara Streisand songs from ‘Funny Girl’, or even a medley of Elton John hits. While her performances at home were largely restricted to an audience of 1 or 2 family members, she did find her greatest lifelong fan in her mom, Vivian.

After graduating from NYU, Colette enjoyed a brief career as a performer and fixture in the club music scene. With a couple of dance hits to her name along with credits as a featured singer on several other songs, Colette - or Chocolette as she was known at the time - performed in virtually every major club in the NY area as well as a few other cities. On stage, Chocolette was a pure diva exuding a fierce, unabashed style and confidence.

Beyond her passions for music and the arts, Colette’s greatest joy came from helping others. She was a beacon of support for both her friends and family, always ready to lend an ear, offer a comforting word, or provide practical assistance without hesitation. Her compassion and unwavering dedication to those she loved were truly extraordinary.

Colette’s legacy will live on in the countless lives she enriched through her kindness and generosity. We will miss her deeply and we will forever cherish the memories of a woman who lived with so much love in her heart.

Sending you my condolences. I remember her bright, shiny face from NYU. We both had family from Co- Op City, and we were in the NYU Choral Arts Society, The girls admired her committment to music and her inner, and outer beauty. Sad that we cannot reconnect. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for you to stay strong.🫶

I've known her most of my life since childhood in the Bronx. She and my aunt Ann Marie Ramos where very close friends. She was a great singer, fluent in French, classy and full of life. Traveled and had many friends, associates who love her. I'm going to miss my auntie Colette.

Goodbye sweet Colette. You were one of the kindest, dearest friends I have ever had and I am going to miss you terribly. Never once over the many years did you complain about your ongoing health issues and you faced them bravely with great strength and fortitude without ever feeling sorry for yourself. You were a very special person indeed. Godspeed old friend.
