Christy Marie Smith

Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Christina (Christy) Marie Smith, age 59, on December 22, 2024. Christy’s unexpected departure has left a profound and irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Born on December 2, 1965, in Boise, Idaho, she was the beloved daughter of Dick and Ginger Purdy.

Christy is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Grady Smith, her four children: Ashlee (Aaron) Hopson, Kori (Corbin) Smith, Trenton (Abigail) Smith, and Reagan (Cody) Conlon, and her cherished grandchildren: Emery, Adelyn, Alena, Eliana, Charleston, Winslow, Ivy, Luna, and Miles, with another Baby Boy Smith on the way. She is also survived by her mother, Ginger Purdy, and her sisters Leslee Haylett and Cindy Tuscany. Christy was preceded in death by her father, Richard (Dick) Purdy, and her beloved dogs Nala, Sadie, and Missy, who brought her much joy throughout her life.

Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Christy graduated from Borah High School in 1984. She then attended Boise State University, where she met Grady on a blind date. Their love story began, and they were married on September 20, 1986. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Carlsbad, California, where they started their family. Over the years, they lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2003, Christy and her family moved to Fullerton, California, where they lived for 12 years before settling in their dream home in Winchester, California, in 2015.

Throughout her life, Christy always committed to balancing her family and professional life. Over the years, Christy worked at Delta Airlines, PakLab and Westlake Royal Stone Solutions, always exhibiting loyalty and a commitment to excellence.

Christy’s life was defined by her selflessness, generosity, and her ability to make everyone feel loved and welcomed. Her family and friends knew her as a woman with a big heart, someone who was always there to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. She was a constant presence in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, traveling far and wide to support them in every way possible. Christy’s love for her family was boundless, and she was a source of unwavering strength, warmth, and comfort to all who knew her.

Though Christy’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts, her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and unconditional love, and she will be forever remembered with love and gratitude.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Christy’s life on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Bear Creek Golf Course, 22640 Bear Creek Dr. N., Murrieta, CA 92562. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories, celebrate Christy’s incredible life, and honor the loving, generous woman she was. A memorial will also be held this spring in Boise, Idaho so her many friends and family can gather in her memory.

Our time with Christy was far too brief and the beautiful impact she left behind for not only those who knew her well, but also, for those of us that knew her from a distance is immeasurable. Christy brought joy to all of us and her kindness made a lasting impression. She inspired those she encountered through her positive spirit and unwavering support. Though she is no longer with us, Christy's spirit lives on in our memories and the wonderful moments she shared with all of us. She will be remembered fondly and missed dearly. She never knew how she impacted my days here at Westlake, so, I am hoping you can see this, Christy.

I am so sorry to hear about Christy. I work for Westlake in Ohio and I remember how welcoming she was to me when I visited the San Marcos office many years ago. I didn't really know her that well but I do know she was extremely kind, hard working and I am thankful to have met her. My prayers go out to all her family, friends and to her co-workers grieving her loss in Oceanside.

Such a tragic loss for her family and friends! We became friends when we were just children. Although we didn’t stay in touch, I’m sure she still had the good heart from when we were active friends. My condolences to her family and friends, 💕

My heart is shattered at the loss of one of my very best friends in the world ... we met at 12 years old became fast friends all through school, shared our first apartment... we're part of each of our weddings, had first babies not far apart, and even though we lived in different places we always stayed in touch ... shared all the updates and milestones of life and family. Months could pass without talking or seeing each other but the moment we communicated it was like no time had passed. She was my person and I miss her deeply and will miss her forever. She and her family mean the world to me. 🖤
