Obituary

Charles Leonard Walton, Jr., age 69, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on October 20, 1955, to Delores and Charles L. Walton, Sr., Charles was a beacon of resilience, humor, and unwavering dedication. His exceptional talent in football forged a path that saw him graduate from Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, Indiana State University (where he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity), and his original training ground, The Robert Taylor Projects. His life exemplified hard work and determination, and his legacy continues to inspire all who knew him. His father, Charles Sr., mother, Delores, sister, Wanda, and brother, Norman, preceded him in death. Charles was the second of six children.

Charles was a loving husband to Renea Walton, with whom he shared a beautiful and steadfast forty-year partnership filled with laughter, travel, and unwavering support. Together, they raised two wonderful children, teaching them the importance of family, perseverance, and humor in navigating life's challenges. Lessons their sons are now charged with passing to his grandchildren.

In 1994, Charles founded The HouseDoctors Property Inspections, Inc., a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for building a better world for others. Over three decades, the business flourished under his stewardship, earning a reputation for excellence and integrity. Charles's tireless work ethic and commitment to quality are hallmarks of the company, and his emphasis on mentorship helped shape the careers of numerous colleagues who admired and valued his fatherly guidance.

Those closest to Charles describe him as a man who could light up any room with his quick wit. Charles had a unique ability to uplift others with his infectious laughter and wise counsel, offering a shoulder to lean on whenever needed. His realness was a source of comfort and joy to his family and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and tenacity, confirmation of the values he held dear. He profoundly impacted his community, family, and the industry he helped shape. He is survived by his wife, Renea, sons Charles III and Marcus, grandchildren Gia, Wesley, and Wynn, siblings Paul, John, and Jan, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service to honor Charles's life will be held on December 28, 2024, at 10 AM at Holy Temple Cathedral COGIC, 15912 Lincoln Ave, Harvey, Illinois. Family, friends, and all whose lives Charles touched are invited to celebrate the remarkable journey of a man who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend to many.

Charles Leonard Walton, Jr. will be deeply missed, but his enduring spirit and laughter will remain in our hearts forever. He beat the odds. Now, he rests.

Mr. Walton was an amazing man and father. Our families have been friends since I was in high school and I’ll always remember him and my dad talking at the top of the stands at football games. Growing up, he would always encourage me in football and baseball as well as to remained focused in the classroom. He loved his family so much and had so much love to give that he passed it on to guys like me. I’ll never forget him reaching out and offering love, mentorship, and guidance throughout my baseball career as I was going through life experiences. He always had a smile, hug, or even a quick joke or story that could lift anyone’s spirit. My condolences to the Walton family. We are thankful for Mr. Walton being an amazing man, the life that he truly lived, and the hearts like ours that he made a lasting impact on. We love you all.

so sorry to hear the news of Chuck’s passing. He was a real standup and Stand Out guy. I met him very early on during the foundation of the Housedoctors and I know I was one of his earliest customers. He was committed to excellence from all of my experiences with him And he was very intentional of building a business that could have a good reputation so that the video that you see would match the audio. Indeed, the Chicagoland area and specifically the real estate community has lost a good man. May he now rest in peace and the works that he has performed outlive him.
