Candace Veronica Tanzos

In loving memory of a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
Obituary
Candace "Candy" Veronica (Bennett) Tanzos, born December 24, 1946 in Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 78 of Alzheimer's dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Helen (Pillar) Bennett, as well as her brother Harold "Hal" Bennett.
Candy is remembered fondly for her vibrant personality, warmth, and unwavering spirit. She approached each day with kindness, a bold enthusiasm for life, a sharp wit and infectious laughter. Truly, she never met a stranger, and her resilience in the face of life’s challenges was matched only by her generosity of spirit.
Candy was one of those rare people who could do anything she set her mind to: crafting, sewing, knitting, cooking, home repair - and so much more. Her passion for crafting and Medieval recreation led her to join the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism), where she was known to many as "Ilona," and where she put her crafting talents to work sewing beautiful Medieval and Renaissance clothing, cooking feasts for hundreds, and sharing fellowship with other creative people. Candy also spent many years volunteering at a local cat rescue, facilitating the adoption of hundreds of cats each year.
Candy was a proud and devoted mother to her two sons, Lewis and Christopher, whom she adored above all else. Even as her memory failed, her face lit up with joy when with them and she relished any opportunity to introduce them with "these are MY boys." Candy is also survived by daughters-in-law Rachel Sherman and Victoria Vesey, as well as granddaughter Skye Vesey.
Candy's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humor, and creative energy that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her journey.

You will always be Mom to me. You have been a good friend and were a great comfort when I lost my parents. I miss roadtripping will you and the girls.
Alexander has grown into a handsome Siamese Tiger with his striped gloves and socks. I am so glad you thought of me when he came into your rescue.
Love you!
