Dearest Caleb

We thought of you with love today

But that is nothing new

We thought about you yesterday & days before that too

We think of you in silence

We often speak your name

All we have are memories & a picture in a frame

Your memory’s our keep sake

From which we’ll never part.

God has you in his keeping

We have you in our hearts

For ever & always

Love Aunty Anne & Family

Welcome to
Caleb Owen Clifford-Jones’s Memorial Site.

My name is Helen Moran & I’m Caleb’s Grandmother.

There is so much to tell & share of Caleb’s story, & I will share his story on this site over the coming weeks.

I invite you to join me in the sharing of your thoughts and experiences relative to the content of this site.

Caleb is my beautiful grandson . He was an amazing young Indigenous man, with dreams of wanting to make the world a better place.

Caleb was born, lived & died on Gnambri/Gnunnuwal Country. He descends from the Wiradjuri & Wongaibon Nations on his mother’s side.

Caleb died by his own hands on July 21st 2020, in his dormitory on the Australian National University (ANU)Campus.

It was not suicide but a terrible miscalculation on his part.

He was a first year student studying engineering & chemistry at the ANU. He was the first Indigenous student in the country to ever do so.

Today being the four year anniversary of his passing, I felt that it would be a perfect time to hold an intimate event here in Canberra and to launch this site as a way of honouring & celebrating his life.

From 2020
Caleb Owen Clifford-Jones (OR2017) passed away in late July 2020.

Caleb was a proud descendant of the Wiradjuri and Wongaibon Peoples. He was a remarkable young man and is deeply beloved by his family. Caleb was recognised for his contribution to the academic life of the college when he was awarded the Molly Gilhooly Prize for Indigenous Academic Achievement. He was a young man with enormous potential and whilst he was only with us at Riverview for a short period of time he certainly left his mark. He made Chisholm House a better place for his presence.
