Obituary/Obituario
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Cesar Augusto Iriarte, 58, who passed away on June 12, 2025, in Frankfurt, Germany. Cesar lived a life defined by surfing, creativity, and quiet strength.
Cesar was deeply respected in the global surfing community. Known for his exceptional skill in the water and his calm, zen-like presence, he carried what many described as "Mana"—a quiet integrity and spiritual energy that commanded respect without words. Surfing was more than a sport to him; it was a way of life that took him around the world and connected him with an international network of friends who cherished his kindness, loyalty, and unwavering strength.
Cesar’s love for the ocean was matched by his love for capturing moments through photography. His images told stories of nature’s power and serenity—reflections of his own character. Cesar was a man of many talents and passions. In addition to being a gifted photographer, he was a graphic art designer, and a web developer, he brought a unique artistic vision to everything he touched. His work reflected not only technical skill but also a deep appreciation for beauty and detail. Whether behind the lens or designing digital artwork, Cesar expressed himself with clarity and purpose.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Lara Iriarte; his stepson, Jack Frost; his mother and father, Carmen and Cesar C. Iriarte; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sara Iriarte Tasch and David Tasch, Diana Iriarte and Bret Beasley; his nephew, Carsten Tasch, and niece, Kelsey Tasch; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who held him dear.
To honor Cesar’s life and spirit, surfers paddle-out memorials will be held as tributes to a man whose soul was deeply connected to the sea: one in New Zealand, his beloved home, and another in Del Mar, California. Additionally, a celebration of life gathering will take place in Austin, Texas. Family and friends who wish to attend and pay tribute are warmly invited. Dates will be forthcoming.
Cesar Augusto Iriarte will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

My heart is with you and the family.
Cesar is surfing between you and their loves ones until the weaves and the snow take us together again in our real eternal home.
🙏🏼⭐️🙏🏼

One of the things I loved most about Cesar was the stories he’d share. He’d tell me about growing up in South America, how he and his sister would spend entire days climbing mango trees, eating their fill and just soaking in life. He had this deep love for mangoes, and when I mentioned I’d never tried one, he was floored—like I’d committed some grand offense against humanity. The very next day, he showed up at work with a bag of mangoes and insisted I eat one right then and there. I’ve loved mangoes ever since, and every time I have one, I think of him.
Cesar’s energy was a gift, and I feel so honored to have known him and worked alongside him. I pray he’s found peace, and I hope his family finds healing through this profound loss. God bless him. Omoteotl.
