My father's life served as a shining example of how to live with integrity, purpose, and compassion. With his remarkable mind and passionate spirit, he was a steadfast advocate for doing good and honoring one's family and cultural heritage. He played a profound role in shaping me into the person I am today, and for that, I will be forever grateful. He was the first person to recognize and support my dream of becoming a doctor as a young child. He did so by providing unwavering encouragement and nurturing, which has had a lasting impact on my life. The loss I feel in the wake of his passing is difficult to put into words; at times, it still feels surreal. However, I am grateful for the time we shared, particularly in the latter stages of his life. I will forever treasure the invaluable lessons he imparted, many of which I only fully appreciated after becoming a parent. He often expressed his immense pride in me, and I take equal pride in being his daughter, striving to honor his legacy. I will always love you, Dad.

A Father's Love, Eternal!
Dad, I am heartbroken by your passing, but I’m also profoundly grateful for the opportunity to honor the incredible life you lived. You were more than my father—my role model, guidepost, and one of my biggest inspirations. Your work ethic wasn’t just something you talked about; it was something you lived every day, shaping who I am.

You taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and discipline from a young age. One of your favorite sayings, “Make haste while the sun shines; tomorrow might be too late,” is something I’ll carry with me always. Those words were more than advice—they were the core of your philosophy. They were your reminder to seize every moment and live with urgency and intention. You didn’t merely speak of hard work—you demonstrated it. At times, your lessons felt tough and challenging to embrace as a child. Yet, looking back, I see now you were doing your best to arm me with the skills needed to navigate life. Your confidence and trust gave me the courage to take bold steps—getting my driver’s license and working at Carl’s Jr. at 16, moving to the Bay Area to work at Apple at 21, and earning college degrees much later in life. You showed me that failure is not the end, but an opportunity to learn and grow. Your balance of encouraging my independence while teaching me responsibility has shaped every part of my life.

You didn’t just talk about living well—you lived it. You showed me the power of purpose, humility, and integrity through your career, care for our family, and kindness to others. You lived with an unwavering sense of responsibility, always putting others first and leading by example. You taught me that success is not defined by wealth or titles, but by the impact we have on others and the effort we put into what truly matters. These lessons continue to guide me now as I raise your grandchildren, Emmanuel and Olive. I remind them, just as you reminded me, to know God, be kind, and embrace every opportunity that comes their way. Your legacy lives on in me, in them, and in everyone whose life you touched.

Even now, in tough times, I hear your voice reminding me to push forward, give my best, and never give up. These lessons stay with me, and I will carry them daily to honor your memory by living a life that makes you proud.

Rest well, Daddy. I love you!

Always your kekere, Irete
