Bryan's Story
Bryan Cannon, a beloved father, loyal friend, and longtime attorney, passed away on September 30, 2026. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, plenty of laughter, and a whole lot of people who loved him. Born in Richardson, Texas, on February 27, 1961, to Lester Thomas Cannon and Mary Anne Harris, Bryan loved live music, animals, his family, and his friends.
Bryan graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1983 before earning his law degree from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio in 1986. He spent nearly 40 years practicing law in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and was a member of the State Bar of Texas from 1986 until his passing. He built a career earning the respect of his clients and colleagues, but there was a lot more to Bryan than his work.
Bryan knew how to enjoy life. He loved golf and was a proud member of the Grapevine Golf Association. He had a weekly lunch appointment with one of his best friends, Dile, at Tolbert's where the staff knew their orders by heart. He never missed an AC/DC concert or a street festival, especially if there was an ’80s rock cover band playing and roasted corn to be found. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and, later in life, the Ole Miss Rebels. He threatened to turn off the Cowboys’ games more times than anyone could count, but somehow, he never quite managed to do it.
Horses were a big part of Bryan’s life when he was younger. He showed horses all over the country and later took his family back to some of those places whenever he needed a break from the Texas heat. Estes Park, Colorado, was his favorite escape. He also loved Alaska, where he, Jordan, and Colin would catch enough fish to feed a small army.
Bryan had a quick wit and a sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes. Calling him a joy to be around might depend on whether you were laughing at his jokes or the one he was making about you. He had a way of keeping everyone laughing, often whether they wanted to or not. He wasn’t always one to say a lot, but his love for his children, Jordan and Colin, showed in the things he did and the decisions he made. He was always there for his kids, never missing an athletic event, performance, or any opportunity to show up and support them. You never had to wonder if Dad would be there. Bryan paid attention, too. Mention something you liked in passing, and you might find a surprise package on your doorstep a few days later. That was just how he showed he cared.
He also had a soft spot for his animals. His phone probably held just as many pictures of his dog, Angus, as it did of his kids. And he never forgot the birthdays of his five granddogs—Ranger, Forrest, Winnie, Zero, and yes, even Clark. If you knew Bryan, you knew his love for his family extended to the four-legged members, too.
Some of Bryan’s most treasured relationships were the friendships he made in college. His TDB brotherhood remained close through the years, with their annual Beach Trips and countless memories and laughs along the way. The TDBs were more than friends; they were family. That bond will continue for Jordan, Colin, and Colin’s fiance Katie, for the rest of their lives.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Anne. He leaves behind his children, Jordan, Colin, and Katie, and his former wife, Missy Cannon, who he maintained a good relationship with throughout his life. He also leaves behind Angus, his much-loved dog, and a circle of friends who were every bit as much family as those connected by blood.
Bryan will be remembered for his sharp humor, his generous heart, his love of music and animals, and the way he showed up for the people who mattered to him. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, a lot of laughter, and a space that can never quite be filled. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
We are so incredibly grateful for all the love and support you all have shown during this difficult time. We truly don't have the words to say how much it means to us. We love you all.
Love -
