Jerry&Shirlee Bodfield

To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
Obituary
Grief is the price of deep love. What we’re feeling now is simply a measure of the joy and closeness that shaped our lives through the love of our parents, Jerry and Shirlee Bodfield.
Dad will be remembered for many things, including his sheer confidence that he could fix almost anything with glue, his commitment to family, his fondness for bolo ties and cowboy boots, and his penchant for mom's banana cream pie. He made a great malt. He loved animals and Sunday morning cartoons. You would regularly find him tinkering under the hood of the car, covered in grease and singing along with classic country tunes. He never lost the swagger from his early days of driving a black Cadillac, with his hair slicked back and his cigarettes rolled in his shift sleeves.
Mom will be remembered for her quiet warmth and sweet nature. She loved being a wife and a mom. She lived for family, and adored her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She laughed at her own really silly mom jokes, was fiercely competitive at Scrabble and card games, was fond of all things fashion and was as lovely inside as she was stunning outside. She marveled at the Tucson mountains, but was always a Maine girl, who loved her sisters, never said no to soft ice cream, and was a truly creative soul who made her kids believe they could achieve anything.
Throughout life, Jerry & Shirlee lived their own kind of love story. Mom fussed over dad and made sure he had breakfast before he headed off to work, and had dinner waiting when he came back. They would retire to the living room to debrief about their day and later, after his retirement, would sit on the porch swing with their coffee and their beloved pets. Meanwhile, you never wondered where dad was, because he was home right on time every night, and spent his days making sure he built security for his family. They loved a good garage sale, a classic western, and the Gaslight Theatre.
Their passing leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories, lessons, and moments shared will continue to live on in our hearts. Although deeply missed, we find solace that they are together again with all their relatives and friends in Heaven, which mom always described as having streets of gold. They leave behind family that loves them dearly and will keep them in their hearts. 💕
